Tyson was coming off suspension and was in jail for another year before the Botha fight for the road rage incident, his timing was extra ****..

Mike Tyson had inconsistency with his training, when he took training seriously it showed. To say he never took training that seriously since he left Kevin Rooney, is also aload of bull**** in my opinion. Its just that he become allot more inconstant after this, and also changing trainers was not good, but deep down Mike Tyson in my opinion never stopped wanting to win, and enjoying intimidating fighters.

True, to a degree..... BUT! Mike Tyson never looked a slob even at 239 for Nielsen in 2001..... Well trained or not, Tyson always looked buffed in the ring....

THeres a difference between training correctly and not training correctly. I can tell you from first hand experience being a few of his camps, he was not training correctly with Jay Bright and Co. Even when Brooks came in, Tommy would be telling him one thing which was right, and Bright would be saying something totally to the contrary.
Brooks worked really hard on getting Tyson to start fighting in angles more, because his timing and combinations were never the same after jail. It was a lot of work on basic technique and positioning with Tyson, because he still had alot of speed and power but the problem was inconsistency. Tyson was not active, and he really didnt start to show the improvement under Brooks until he put a few fights together, Francis, Savarese and Golota, but he regressed a lot after the Golota fight taking another year off. He should have faced Lennox Lewis about six months after the Golota fight and kept Tommy Brooks in his corner.

I always felt that fight was fixed. Nielson had weathered the storm, and Tyson was in horrible shape. He was gassing hard, and then all of sudden Nielsons corner throws the towel in. Tyson and company were protecting the huge payday against Lewis.

No fix there....... Nielsen was tuff..... Yes, he looked a slob, but still very tuff...... Tyson was getting to him and wearing him down....... Nielsen was fine sitting-it-out after giving a good show...... Nielsen got his check..... Tyson was ahead and was well on his way to winning either way you slice it...... No fix...... Nielsen didn't need to take anymore punches from Tyson.... And, again, at 239, Tyson was not a slob with love handles like many ex-heavies..... Tyson was just thicker than usual.......

    "Thicker than usual."
Tyson is a 5'10" heavyweight, 239lbs is a disgraceful weight for him, he was a chubby shot zombie in there, he performed horribly & gassed early.

He looked rusty as hell against Botha, and Botha nearly made him pay for it.

I once watched a bunch of Tyson fights back-to-back, and while there was a notable 'step down' from Tyson-Ruddock II to Tyson-McNeeley, the biggest one was Tyson-Holy II to Tyson-Botha. Really poor performance from Tyson mixed with a good, smart one from Botha.

However, he did look sharper against Norris and through 2000.

No rust in Tyson after the Botha fight of 1999; just faded skills..... Tyson looked faded / shot in all them suck-ass fights with "Norris, Francis, Savarese & Nielsen." I excluded his 2000 TKO over Golota because Tyson looked good there......

Tyson prolly should've been DQ'd against Savarese for hitting after the bell and running over the ref to do it......

Tyson's skills completely left him after his DQ loss to Holy in 1997........ And his skills were lacking then too........

    Yeah, he looked bad.
He was never much good after either. He was starting to gain some sharpness in 2000, but the opposition was horrendous.
I thought Golota was crap to be honest.

Tyson could have always beaten guys like Savarese, Golota and Bruno. They were just too slow defensively and too mentally fragile to beat him. What he needed was more guys like Norris, Botha and Mathis. Guys who had some boxing and movement skills. He needed those type of fighters to sharpen up his timing and defense. Against guys like Golota and Bruno he just came forward and mowed them over taking shots in return because those fighters had poor footwork and no upper body movement. With guys like Botha Norris and Mathis, he had to think and setup his shots and not throw telegraphed bombs, because they could see them and get out of the way or counter him, just as Holyfield did.

Does anyone suspect that Tyson is looking at a possible comeback in 2011 by fighting hand-picked stiffs on ESPN???

I hope not, but Tyson has looked like he's dropped weight for one reason or another....

Tyson looked horrid against McBride in 2005.....
