Biggest myth in boxing. Tyson only became fragile mentally once his outside ring life became out of control, when he was at his peak from 86-88, he was a happy man, he answered all questions put forward in the ring, never faltered mentally once, never even came close.... Holyfield would have got torn up by that version, believe it.
These are the most obvious three. Ali certainly would have, imo. Any version of him from 1964-75. Tyson was certainly awesome for his time though.
Louis gets my Vote. Also Max Baer might've been able to do it, dont call me out on this either. If Baer wasn't screwing around it could've been done.
As much respect as I have for Joe Louis, I don't think he beats a peak Tyson during that time frame. Louis, even at his best, proved that he was vulnerable in the early rounds of a fight against big punchers, and himself even said that he wasn't a big fan of swarmers or crouching fighters who crowded him. Although, I rank the brown bomber higher than Iron Mike, I would heavily favor the latter to win in a head to head matchup, and probably make a short night of it...
No, Bill. Tyson's life was spiraling out of control during the press before the fight for Spinks. Everything up to and during the Spinks fight his life was unraveling. Divorce, soon to be split in camps. His life and the press were so rabid Tyson said after defeating Spinks. "I don't know, this might be my last fight." Holyfield in his prime had a great chance against him. Nobody has to believe your take on it.
