I'm a nuthugger. But we go Louis > Holmes Walcott 2* > Ruddock 2* Rex Layne 2* > Bruno 2* Bivins and Satterfield > Spinks Joey Maxim 2* & Ray > Seldon & Berbick It's close and I could be persuaded otherwise but it come down to, and I repeat
Old Holmes was better than old Louis, who had lagging reflexes and could not let off his right as a result. Holmes gave good performances after the Tyson bout, including troubling Holyfield.
I know, but the Holmes of the Tyson fight was on par with the Louis of the Charles fight. The opposite could also be argued but prime Louis was better than Prime Holmes, which is what I was getting at. I suppose it could be Louis=Holmes But that hurts my case so...
Walcott and shot Louis are probably better than Tyson's wins, but considering the nature of Tyson's victories, whereas Charles went 2-2 with Walcott etc., Tyson is clearly the better heavyweight. The asnwer depends what you mean by resume.
Louis had a 4 year 3 month layoff (1942-46). Came back and retired again after 4 fights. Comes back again after a 2 year 3 month layoff. Fights Charles in his first fight back. Holmes had a 1 year 8 month layoff. He was the fresher fighter. Louis had been fighting elite opposition since a much younger age than Holmes and was more washed up when he fought Charles. Holmes beat prime Mercer and troubled Holy 4 years after the Tyson fight. He almost beat McCall over 7 years after the Tyson fight. This shouldn't even be debatable tbh. Louis>Holmes in general but in this case, Holmes win > Louis win. Yes. I actually don't know about this one. Nah. Don't do that dawg. Don't be combining wins like 5+3 > 7. Charles fought them separately so these wins should be judged separately. Neither win is better than Spinks. Maxim was a Light heavyweight. He wasn't really an elite heavyweight. Berbick beat heavyweight champions like John Tate, Greg Page, and Pinklon Thomas. Berbick > Maxim at heavy. Ray > Seldon even though Ray was past it. What about Tyson's wins over Bonecrusher Smith, Pinklon Thomas, Tony Tubbs, Carl Williams. Thomas and Tubbs in particular. Both were talented heavyweights Tyson dominated. Williams was probably the best heavyweight of his era to not win a title. Bonecrusher wasn't a great fighter but he had a good resume. He had KOd Weaver and Witherspoon in the first round. Charles is p4p top 10 imo but as a heavyweight, Tyson>Charles+Savold. lol.
I wasnt sure at first, but you've convinced me. Charles has the better resume Btw Layne was past prime Edit: I perhaps would've included his wins over Brion and Reynolds
JUST have some bppp,Louis KO HOLMES ...not in league with Joe,TYSON nhis prime ko great EZZ, ALSO KO HOLMES .PRIME JOE WOULD KO PRIME TYSON
