Now those are incredible numbers never did i imagine that they would do that much. That's more than canelo-ggg. https://www.usatoday.com/story/spor...jr-bout-80-m-pay-per-view-bonanza/6487482002/ https://nypost.com/2020/12/08/mike-tyson-roy-jones-jr-fight-draws-insane-ppv-numbers/
Wow! Really?!!? I'm actually happy because I think a bunch of that money (hopefully) went to charity. I'm really surprised though. Good for Tyson.
That's because Tyson is more famous than Pac, Floyd, Oscar, and Clenelo combined. Housewives, secretaries, aunts, and even grannies know who he is.
Shows that Mike is still as popular as ever, well done to Mike and at least Don King wont get a dime.
Yup. He was also around during what was the peak era of boxing in terms of television. People who have never watched a boxing match know his name. Same with Ali.
Very good numbers and it really does show the kind of star power that Tyson has still. Honestly wouldn't mind more exhibition bouts if it means giving money to charity.
It was also closer to the proper price point. Most PPVs would do a lot better if they were closer to $49.99 than $79.99. They crossed a definite line with the $69.99 and $79.99 PPVs.
Charity? Today is probably the first time Mike Tyson doesn't owe the government/creditors any money in 30 years.
I hate to be a cheap ass but I honestly would order more ppv if the price was lower. Tank Davis doesn't excite me enough to spend 80 bucks to watch him fight.
I'm happy for Mike. I'm guessing a large chunk of those PPVs were from 50 year old housewives who are still thirsty for iron mike
Yep, some very serious money indeed was involved. Being closed circuit must have saved a lot on venue, security, various forms of logistics, etc, and the undercard wasn't exactly star studded/expensive. Jones and Tyson were said to be guaranteed $1m each but really I wouldn't be at all surprised if the real amounts they took home was a few times that.
