Tyson says he would have beaten V. & W. Klitschko in their prime.

Sure , WK could win a wrestling match.

But in a straight up boxing match under the Marquess of Queensbury rules , Mike gets inside on Wlad and deposits him to the canvas with a quickfire left hook counter off the jab. Possibly for the 10 count.

I would doubt that. Tyson had nothing left.

I wrote "to make up shortcomings."

The gulf between Jones and Vitali is exorbitant, its way too big. Is Jones chasing Vitali if he choses to use his reach & height, unable to hurt him, or is he running himself to protect his whiskers from that proven puncher? Tyson at least is close to Vitalis power*chin level, something size oftens leads to.
But like Emanuel Steward used to say, if there is something to neutralize a size disadvantage, its speed.
Thus, I don´t think I have to reply to that absurd Rocky-Ali = Tyson-Vitali comparison anymore.

Tyson said before he didn't think he could beat the Klitschko's. Mike been busy talking boxing lately, I think he wants to be a boxing color guy.

I know thats far from prime Wlad that I watched last night, but hell did Wlad look fragile and tottery in there.

Not sure if I´ve ever seen a trimmed muscle-bound 240lb man look that shakey on his feet.

He certainly improved his balance over these ten years, his footwork looks way more secure and grounded in 2013, while his physique & weight seems to be exactly the same.

Anyway, I don´t like the way he reacts to Povetkin coming in. That said, I wouldn´t bet a penny on Tyson against any of those two, but I see Vitali more of a problem over 12 rounds to go.

I have a hunch Wlad would be utterly terrified anyways and would stay down regardless of whether or not he'd have the faculties to get up or not.

To be fair, Vitali was 6'7 or 6'8, so most people would look like dwarves next to him even if they are tall themselves. George Foreman at 6'3 would look like a dwarf next to the K2 Brothers, despite being a tall man (taller than most) in his own right.

Nothing absurd about it. You’re placing faith in Tyson’s speed being able to overcome the size and strength disadvantage. Marciano admirers are placing faith in Marciano’s toughness and power to overcome the size and speed disadvantage.

There’s no difference except Tyson gets the benefit of every doubt in these types of match ups by the same people who ridicule Marcianos chances in comparatively similar (from the size both guys are giving away) match ups.

I’m guessing it’s a subliminal bias found in people who grew up in the Tyson era and remembering the blowouts of Michael Spinks or Trevor Berbick means they think he does that to anyone no matter how big or good they are, in their minds. I just don’t buy it.

Again, are you telling me that

    "Tyson’s

    being able to overcome a

    and

    "

    is appropriate comparable to

    "Marciano’s
    This content is protected
    to overcome a
    This content is protected
    and
    This content is protected
    "

when both of these guys fighting durable Ali and Vitali (excluding Tyson had power + defense and Ali had strength too) ?

Two smaller men fighting two bigger very durable boxers, while Ali, who was known to give a **** about power, has a speed advantage himself and Vitali dealing with a speed disadvantage is comparable ?

Well, I´ve read enough nonsense on BF24, so nothing new here.

Maybe we´re facing a subliminal Mike Tyson bias at this point, but who knows, who knows :eusa_whistle:

    Not at all.

Good fighters have been able to overcome physical disadvantages and limitations throughout boxing history. I don’t think a Marciano beats Ali and I’m open minded about Tyson against a Klitschko but when people dismiss one person out of hand but make cases for another up against similar or even larger physical disadvantages then I wonder whether bias or an agenda is at play.

I’ve heard the oft quoted “where are the 5’11 185lb heavies today” but where are the 5’10 220lb ones today as well? Considering Tyson’s heyday was nigh on 35 years ago now I’m wondering whether boxing has moved on from that as well and Tyson is now as obsolete against the modern super heavies as Rocky was against the 60’s and 70’s best.

You don’t hear that though. It’s all Tyson destroys them and they’re all terrified of the little ugly short guy. I don’t buy it...again.

Wlad gets knocked out - cold
Vitali goes out like a fool on his stool in the mid to late rounds.
