No, the 42 year old Holmes took 3 years off, beat 4 or so chumps, then beat PRIME Undefeated Ray Mercer, who was coming off his devastating KO of undefeated Tommy Morrison...

It wasn't the older version of Mercer, the one who many believe beat Prime Lewis, no, no, it was the Prime version that lost to really old Holmes...

Spinks was a great LHW, was the first man to beat Holmes became the World champ (neither Klit or Haye can say this) and was undefeated, at the time there were many who thought Spinks was gonna beat Tyson. I wouldn't call Spinks an ATG at HW but he was a solid fighter, much better than Haye, Adamek, or Byrd. While we are on subject Spinks did actually get the W over Holmes, While Vitali was beaten by a an overweight 38 yr old who would not have been good enough to get by Rahman.

87' Holmes is who I was refering to, you know the guy who was 2 years retired and coming back for a payday. At least the guy Mercer faced had been keeping busy and though old had no ring rust.

Mercer was a good fighter, tough as nails, but at 18-0 with only Morrison and Cooper as signature wins prime? nah.
Oh and many can believe he beat Lewis all they want, 3 judges and the vast majority disagree. Infact I think only a few Americans think he won, funny that.

Spinks was a great LHW I agree.
Neither Klits or Haye can say that they were the first to beat Holmes, I agree, they weren't fighting when Spinks beat him.
Those who thought he was going to beat Tyson? So what, many thought Golota was going to beat Lewis after what he did to Bowe.
I'd give the edge to Haye and Adamek, Byrd 50/50, beating an old Holmes isn't the mark of a "great" heavyweight imo.

Again people using Lewis as the way to beat Vitali when he's different from how Tyson, Holmes or ANYONE would approach the fight.

Finally Lewis though heavier was in better shape than he was for Rahman. Though not as hungry as he once was he at least had a full training camp unlike the 2 weeks for Rahman.

And it wasnt prime Lewis. It actually was shitty LEwis. He just started to work with MAnny. And most fighters tends to do bad when Steward changes their game.
And don't let me started on the ring size it was WHEY SMALL.

Steward is a guy who can take fighters to the next level, but as you pointed out it takes time. Lewis was lacking confidence in the fight, Manny soon slapped that out of him and got Lewis's head back in the fight.
Although Hearns will always be viewed as Manny's best pupil what he's done with Wlad and what he did with Lewis probably couldn't have been done by any other trainer.

wladimir pack pedals whenever he's uncomfortable with the pressure, and hurt. the last fight he was under pressure was against samuel peter, and he would of been on even more pressure against tyson basically because tyson was too good to not put pressure on you. wladimir isn't even that comfortable when going for clinches, it's more of a desperate sort of clinch than anything else. wladimir doesn't throw many left hooks, and he wouldn't even try and do that against a fighter as fast as tyson. i'm not saying wladimir is slow, but one miss left hook and he's vulnerable, and wladimir doesn't put himself in such a situation.

obviously it's just an opinion, but i believe tyson would win this quite comfortably regardless of their size difference. david haye will be the only live fighter who is fast and has lateral movement that wladimir has faced in years, and even then you couldn't compare haye to the likes of tyson.

The Wlad that got knocked out by Sanders would get beat by the Tyson that unified the title. The Wlad that has went on a large title streak would beat the Tyson that lost to Douglas and Holyfield. I think it is about 50-50 matchup. Now Vitlai I would favor 80 percent of the time with Tyson better chin than Wlad.

I think the Tyson that fought Henry Tillman beats Larry Holmes in 4 but the Tyson that fought Alonzo Ratliff doesn't get him out of there til the 10th.
The Tyson that fought McNeeley? Get the **** outta here with that ****.
If Mike Tysons were fighting today my HW top 10 would look like,

    1. Tyson that fought Spinks
    2. Tyson that fought Berbick
    3. Tyson that fought Holmes
    4. Tyson that fought Pinklon
    5. Tyson that fought Biggs
    6. Tyson that fought Frazier
    7. Tyson that fought Tubbs
    8. Tyson that fought Williams
    9. Alexander Povetkin
    10. Tyson that fought Frank Bruno (1)

even an old, out of condition, rusty lennox lewis beat vitali. the klitschko's are not as good as alot of people make out, it's just they're the best in what is a very weak division.
