[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif] Tyson turmoil in South Africa! Former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson is not receiving a warm welcome in South Africa. Iron Mike is in Johannesburg to help promote the big boxing card on Saturday. However, every step of the ex-champion has been dogged by protests. Buckling under pressure, Jacob Zuma, leader of South Africa's ruling ANC party, cancelled an appearance at a charity event due to the presence of Tyson. Also, radio station Talk Radio 702 cancelled an interview with Iron Mike after angry listeners bombarded its switchboard. Like i have said before are this White South Africans or Black Africans.Mike Tyson is a powerful man..look at the turmoil this one man causes.
Yeah, I'd be interested to know if these are black or white South Africans as well. Also, are they saying that people should never be allowed to be forgiven?
i'd have to imagine it's the white power structure (upper class) threatened/angered at tyson coming to town as a celebrity. they'll call him a ****** and run him out of town
Havent got a clue. But id find it massively ironic if the black South Africans were giving him a hard time which in my opinion is highly unlikely. They need to look closer to home aswell as at there own boxers. Frans Botha was hardly some credible individual.
That's pretty sad. The man can't get away from all that mess (which he likely be innocent of) even in Africa. If you can't go to Africa to get away from your problems...then where can you go? It sucks that he's being haunted by that **** where ever he goes.
Mike Tyson is a Icon..no other Black man can go to the Old Soviet Union..Asia and be greeted like a hero. He had presidents coming to greet him at airports when he went on his world tour after his retirement. When he came to England back in 2000..he shut the country down. It was immense..people where saying it was the biggest thing since when the Beatles came back from America. A powerfull Man.. Iron Mike Tyson.
Logically, race is probably a big reason. This is a country where apartheid was legal what 20 years ago. It's logical that there's still a lot of racism and racial issues within that country where the white minority probably still occupy the upper classes and the black majorit the lower and middle classes. Obviously it could just be some type of righteous country that objects to a confessed sinner coming to town, but imo that would be rare and make little sense. Assuming race is an issue, the whites most likely feel threatened in a way that jack johnson threatened so many whites back in his day.
