I grew up watching 'Iron Mike", he was one of the most talented heavyweights to step in the ring. Love him or hate him, you just had to watch him. I will never forget the excitement I felt right before Tyson's ring entrance, just the anticipation of not knowing what was going to happen that night.
Exactly...people from that era remember what it FELT like when Mike Tyson first appeared in the alley way on his to the ring...seeing that guy walk down the aisle was like watching a giant pitbull suddenly turn the corner and head for someone...and you knew u werent going to take ur eyes off of it because as bad as it was, you werent going to miss it! It was ELECTRIC when Mike Tyson showed up...
I agree. His personality, skills, and his intimidation factor was second to none. I am quite sure it will be quite some time before we see another Mike Tyson like fighter enter the ring again. He was my generations Ali, a fighter that was bigger than the sport itself at one time. Which like Ali and Louis, became a boxing icon to most boxing fans around the world.
He was also the P4P No. 1 in the world as well, as illustrated by taking the Ring's inaugural ratings for 1989. And that was post-Rooney when people thought he was showing the slightest cracks.
he was p4p number one for 3 years, what other heavywieght has ever done that? with all the other good fighters round in the other weight classes too. my favourite entrance is the spinks one, its awesome!!! [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pmvfb8al0QE[/ame]
