I know that everyone on this board will go with tyson, but imagine the hype and build up leading up to this fight? It would make Tyson V Spinks and Holmes V Cooney look like club level fights in terms of interest This fight would be on the lips of everyone everywhere. Two bad guy nut cases, one black the other white.
The build-up would be nice, but it would end up like this. This content is protected This content is protected
Back then? Not a chance. Golota actually had a degree of mental strength and willpower back then. He fought on with numerous injuries including a broke ear drum, I believe, against Bowe. He flat out gave up in two with a similar injury against Tyson years later.
He froze up against Lewis and I suspect he'd freeze up against Tyson in 1997, just like he did in 2000. Hell, Golota wanted to quit after one round when they did fight. Then after they threatened to take his pay, we heard this talk about his personal doctor about injuries.
Like I said, Golota showed far more mental integrity, even if it gave out at times, earlier in his career. Did you see him vs. Samson Po'uha? Samson was a EXTREMELY hard puncher and I don't know if I'm ever seen punches significantly harder than what he threw land on Golota that night. Loud, thudding, hard shots. Fights like that coupled with the Bowe series took something out of Golota.
Mental integrity? Golota bit Po'uha!!!! Well, maybe we can have a double DQ or no-contest if that happens with Tyson.
It would be a serious legacy enhancement for Tyson and put him somewhat back in the championship picture (assuming it happened after Holyfield). I believe Tyson would have battered him. Golota was skilled but a elite level puncher always seemed to make him freeze. Though I believe he'd give it a college try He'd come up short against a still formidable Tyson.
Tyson would beat Golota 100 times outta 100. Golota would ALWAYS have been intimidated by Tyson, and would freeze up and get taken out. Tyson KO 2.
Open defense guys that are there to be hit are the guys Tyson looks his best against. Golata was not a big enough puncher to discourage Tyson early & needs lots of rounds for his combos to become effective. The Golate defense would not hold up long enough for that to happen.
Galota had trouble with big punchers although Bowe was no slouch here if he got through the first few rounds he may do well, its hard to know he was so unpredictable.
Bowe wasnt fast or a massive puncher like Lewis or Tyson, he was also likely past his prime. Golota was always too slow and stiff to handle the onslaught from these 2 Anyway it wouldn't really have been a big fight. 2 guys coming off losses
