lewis got better later on in his career, so if the fight was 12 years earlier, tyson probably could have one, since that was basically his prime.

but prime for prime id pick lewis every time.

    Are you kidding me?
There was nout wrong with 'prime' Tyson's stamina - surely you're basing this statement on the 'shot' version- when Iron Mike knew he had - at best - 9 minutes to get his opponent out of there before he ran out of gas.

The guy was saying that Tyson "murdered" fighters with Lewis' size/weight/skill. I take that to mean he is talking about prime Lewis, either way I don't agree because Bruno never had the skill of Lewis, not even a 1 year pro Lewis.

Williams got a Tyson 2 yrs later who was told by Roach that Williams would **** himself and get knocked out in rd 1. He didnt expect a fight, he didnt want to fight after losing to Lewis, a loss which changed Tysons character which is evidence of that. Dont forget he broke his back before his previous fight against Ettienne 18 months earlier and tore his knee in rd one of the Williams fight.

Pre-Buster Douglas, the fight would have been different.

Lewis fought a completely shot Tyson. The same Tyson that years earlier struggled against Francis Botha and went 7 rounds with Brian Nielson. That win meant absolutely nothing. Tyson was basically finished after the first Holyfield fight.

As to who would win prime for prime, I don't think there's any question. After 1990, it would probably be a good fight.

Im more of Lennox fan but I have to agree with you on this TheGreat. do you remember when couple of days back one guy said in Thread "Prime Tyson vs Prime Lewis" something about "I believe Lennox would have taken Mike out in 5 rounds or less" and you had to point out it took Lennox 8 rounds to take out Shell, shot to **** Tyson.

This thread reminds of an immortal football quote by Ron Atkinson:

'If history were to repeat itself I'm sure we could expect the same again.'

Also, stop trolling- you were found out ages ago.

...and Tyson fought a Lewis who had boxed only 4 rds since being knocked out by Rahman and proclaimed to be shot!
People forget that at almost 37 he was half the speed and stamina that he used to be also.

what are you talking about, they sparred when they were young teenagers and by lewis's own account on the build up to their fight he said tyson gave him fat lip and he bloodied his nose.

well, anybody who said he lost to rahman be was because he was shot is an idiot. he lost cause he got caught, just like when mccall knocked him out. lewis was still closer to his prime when he fought tyson then tyson was to his prime. thats not even debatable.

yea, the guy in the vid even said that. he also said, after that, he handled tyson pretty easily since he knew what to do. it was just that first round fury that lewis wasnt expecting.

Yeah, Tyson gave him a fat lip and Lewis bloodied Tysons nose in 1984. As his trainer said, Lennox learnt to control Tyson after the initial shock of the first sparring round. Tyson was world champion 2 years later in 1986! Lewis was very green and a long way from attaining his most skilled form.
