Did you not see tyson fight Nielson in his last fight before Lewis? It went 7 rds and Tyson looked like ****, weather you like it or not, Tyson was a shell of himself when he fought Lewis.

    Absolute bullshite.

The Tyson that took out Spinks is the greatest ever fighter to have graced the planet.

He would have absolutely have destroyed Lewis and Anyone else for that matter. Boxing is on the night, and on that night Tyson... was absolutely untouchable and unbeatable.

I have never ever ever seen another performance better than that in my life.

Tyson wins obviously. Lewis has been knocked out by a single punch twice and a prime Tyson would have no problem landing power punches on LL's chin.

Yeah Lewis was vulnerable when he underestimated opponents. I think its safe to say he will not be overlooking Tyson.

Regardless, this fight would likely always favour Lewis. It's a style issue as much as anything. Lewis is simply too big and skilled. One comparision is Ruddock, who fought Tyson twice and was blown out by Lewis. Having said that Tyson would always be a danger and have a punchers chance against Lewis, but it's basically Lewis' fight to loose.

The formula he used when he did eventually fight Tyson was about as perfect a forumula as it gets. Lewis maximized his size and strength advantage and when Tyson got inside, Lewis hurt him repeatedly with the upper cut. That would always be a hard forumula for Tyson to overcome, especially since Lewis also made him pay dearly for trying to get inside in the form of jabs and straight rights.

Well then you haven't watched much boxing. Because if you want truly great performances try watching Ali - Foreman, or Ali - Frazier III, or the first Leonard - Duran fight, those are performance.

What Tyson did was KO a guy who was scared shitless to be in the same ring as him.

That's not a particular great performance by any means.

In fact a far greater performance was Lewis against Tyson. Why because even though Lewis was somewhat scared of getting hit by Tyson, he systematically broke him down and when he was soft enough he finished him off. That's a thing of beauty.

As far as Tyson being the greatest fighter on the planet, give me a break. I'd pick Ali to beat Tyson every day of the week. Foreman too would likely beat Tyson as would Lewis, and probably Holmes as well. Sure Tyson is probably top 5 H2h but he's certainly not head and shoulders above those other four.

how much do you want to invest in that? tyson would gone on to lose against henry tillman twice in the amatures before turning into the fighting machine he became.

OK, so im as big a Lewis fan as there is, but 1990? For****ssake. Tyson in 1990 annihilates the embryonic Lennox.

Gotta go with Tyson on this, but not by much. There's a big difference in the Tyson of 90 and the next year later, when he fought Razor Ruddock, their only common opponent of that era (Bruno was a lucky wash-up, and everyone knew it, by the time he reaquainted himself with Mike's fists).

The decline was well in motion, the bobbing/weaving, the elusiveness, the sheer output however late the round, all were degrading from his peak in '88. Back then, Tyson would have KO'ed Lewis, ANY version of Lewis, in no more than 4 rounds.

Putting the fight in 92 (I assume the OP meant 12 years before their fight, not just 12 years ago!!) makes it interesting call. Back then Lewis was a much faster fighter than he was by the end of the decade, and he'd need that speed against Tyson. I'd say, if you added his later ring savvy to his earlier athleticism, you'd get a much better rounded fighter who would decision Mike 8 nights out of 10.

Put the fight in '95, and my prediction above switches over to Lewis. As it is (was), the fight in '92 is an absolute toss-up between Mike by KO, and Lennox by UD...about the only guaranteed winner would be the viewer, because it'd be a ****ing barnburner, and that because Tyson wouldn't let Lenny just cover up and force him into a bombing match (one Mike would certainly not be guaranteed to win, but I'd give him SLIGHTLY better than a 50% chance of doing so).

I could well see either guy getting knocked down and then going on to win. Again, the biggest winner would be the viewer.

I would like to think so.

That guy was a monster, with all the confidence of a champion who was ready to destroy anyone in his path, and physically at his peak.

Lewis would probably always hold a stylistic advantage against Tyson, but this would have been more competitive, more interesting.

You mean how he murdered Bonecrusher Smith? :-D

Tyson never came close to meeting anyone with the Lewis' combination of size, power and skill...what are you talking about?

Lewis could be knocked out with the perfect punch, as against McCall and Rahman. That happened just twice in a long career when he totally underestimated his opponents. He live like a nun before fighting Tyson and be laser - focused. He beats Tyson 8 out of 10 IMO.

If Lewis would have fought that version of Spinks with the mindest he had against Golota or Grant, Spinks would have been destroyed in one round as well.

Tyson was extremely exciting in his prime, but Lennox easily beats everyone Tyson faced during that time. I am not sure if Tyson beats the version of Holyfield that fought well against Lewis in the rematch.
