That fight is timeless....and also gives a real indication of where some of our modern day fighters sit on the scale of things.
...I think Evander had what it takes to hang with them guys...I'm not so sure about Iron Mike,Lewis or Bowe.

two fighters emerge from the jungle.....jump in the ring, and have never seen eachother before.....

you may have a case for holmes. but remember, he bashed ali every time they sparred...

frazier had no hope. tyson had two hands, a jab, and was young, fast and a ko artist. joe, like all of them, would have been mugged by tyson, in an 'unseen' fight.

Definately not when on the recieving end either. Frazier's agression and drive is like very few throughout H/W history. Maybe 3 or 4 others were as relentless.. maybe only 2??

yep, prime tyson smashes prime lewis for sure.

correct me if im wrong but they did try get this fight on when Tyson was in his prime but couldnt make it happen? was it over money or did Tyson go to jail? I think after Jail Mike was never the same fighter again.

Jose Torres called it the emotional edge....he used the term when describing the difference in the Hagler/Hearns fight....Hagler had it...Hearns didn't....same can be said of Frazier and Tyson....Joe had it...Mike didn't.
In Australia we call it bein' 'a front runner'.

I cant remember that ,besides Lewis was just turning pro when Tyson was at his peak no mention of Lewis v Tyson when Tyson was at his peak . Lewis went the Commonwealth , European title route to ATG status and get there he did imo , does Tyson merit ATG status ? too many wobbles along the way for me , Lewis avenged his too loses , that's a another point ! did Tyson ever do that ? Um NO .

a boxing mate told me of a nice little quote from Lewis on this very subject....it went something like this...
...Lewis said that the main difference between him and Iron Mike was that Mike never had a mum like he did...
...that to me says it all.
