Just watched this fight for the first time in years. Really can't see what the fuss was about. No need for a rematch. Tyson clearly the better fighter and the stoppage was legit. The ref saved Ruddock from a battering.

    Totally agree.

The end stoppage was a good one, Ruddock would have been killed had the ref allowed it to go on.

Ruddock took a battering in those two fights with Tyson and was never the same boxer again.

    shi.t stoppage
stop with the ref saved him from a battering bullsh.it.
if the ref stopped every arturo gatti fight when he was getting battered he wouldnt be the comeback legend he is today.
tyson ruddock was #1 vs #2.... chicken **** stoppages like that are pathetic. at least let the guy get knocked down.....he missed half of those punches.... richard steel caught hell for that and rightfully so....

if perfect is stopping him from getting punched over and over in the face rather than he "could" get hit over and over if he didnt stop it.
terrible stoppage in a high profile fight....he wasnt hurt or even wobbled....it was mike tyson throwing bombs and the ref panicked
i guess you think tua vs rahman was a good stoppage too huh? because he "could have been hurt had he been hit" with those bombs

WTF? I suggest you watch the ending again. Unless, of course, your idea of a fighter getting "hurt and wobbled" is what Lewis did to Rahman in round 4 of their rematch.

Tyson had Ruddock down several times in the fight, and Tyson himself was never troubled. He was starting to get through in that 7th round and was landing flush. Ruddock was on the verge of taking punishment he (nor anybody else) needs to take. Good stoppage.
