this fight was supposed to happen but it was canceled due to morrison testing positive for aids. this was after tyson came out of prison. so...if this fight would happen ...who would take it?
Tyson would probably have a few rough moments like he did with other big punchers he faced... Bruno comes to mind. But he weathers it against Morrison and stops him, I think. Pre or Post prison, he wins. Don't even think Morrison has the Bruno like ability to soak up a few shots to go along with his power. His chins shaky.
a supremely exciting shootout with tommy ending up starched by an unfazed tyson in about three rounds.....all the good gear in the world cant put muscles on yer chin....
This fight does not get out of the first round. KO1 Tyson. No way Morrison can deal with Tyson's vicious early attack, and Mike would only need to land once.
morrison chin wasnt good enough to deal with tyson. maybe if he stays away he can survive for a few rds.
I'd say if Morrison comes in like he did against Old Foreman he might win a few rounds, but eventually I'd say a KO. Maybe this fight would be reminisant of the Botha fight with a little more heart in the battle. Edit: Late KO for Tyson. At least close to the 8th round.
Morrison is never going to beat an agressive fighter with a great chin. This fight will end just like the Mercer fight, maybe a bit less brutal. He could get away against Foreman, because old Foreman was slow as **** (and mediocre anyway). Tyson has extremely fast hands (also post-prison) and comes right at him. A first round knockout would be no suprise to me.
I disagree with a first round KO. I think Morrison can show the moves and the heart to get through Mike's opening attacks. He would not fold up without a fight. Great fun for a few rounds, but ending with Morrison eating canvas pretty hard in about...hmm...say 4 or 5 rounds.
While I agree that Tyson would likely win early, I disagree that he could weather the storm and come back to win like Mercer did. Tyson was a front runner, and once he got whacked, he lost his edge. I saw a bit of Morrisons fights vs Purrity, McGraity, and Tucker a week ago. Morrison had an unbelievable left hook, but he was never a well rounded fighter. The chin, stamina, defense were a bit suspect. The boxing skills were fair. But OMG, that hook of his was absolutely devastating.
It depend on 2 factors: the first is Tyson aggression, if Tyson came out angry and determined, Morrison would fold inside of 2 rounds -probably completely out. If Morrison brought his roller skates that he used against Foreman it would take about 3 or less additional rounds. Morrison was about as insecure as Tyson, only without the durability.
Ruddock hit just as hard as Morrison and Tyson took deadly shots and came right back with his own. To beat Tyson, you need to maneuver him - punching power alone is far from enough (unless maybe you're George Foreman). Mercer's KO was especially brutal because the ref was late in saving Morrison or else if Tyson was given that kind of opportunity - he'd show Ray how it is done with his faster & more powerful combinations.
