This is one of those fights that I wish could have happened as Tyson and Spoon are two of my all time favs.. I think Spoon would have given Mike fits for sure in '89, you know other then the 2nd Bonecrusher fight I don't really remember ever seeing Spoon that shook by anyone's punches back in those days.. Spoon could bang with the right hand, had a good jab, and could box and punch some. Now I think Tyson would be maybe the heaviest puncher Spoon ever faced although Bone could bang and so could Mercer and some other Spoon opponents.. But I know Spoon has never faced anyone that threw combos like Mike did back then. I see a tough fight for Mike in the first 6 rounds but down the stretch as Spoon tires Mike either takes him out late or wins a decision.. I will say that Tyson catches up to Spoon and wins TKO10..
But I think this would be Mikes toughest fight by far if we are to assume that this is 1989. Spoon would gain some much deserved credibility in this fight which might even force a rematch

no, Thomas was NOT Tyson's hardest fight. Thomas was past his prime when he fought Tyson. He had looked lackluster against Berbick and William Hosea in his two previous fights. Before that, he had a tough fight with an aging Mike Weave. Tyson just mopped up what was left.
