Casuals are of the belief that if good old Cus hadn't passed and evil Don King hadn't got hold of Mike, he would one round KO everyone in history. Whenever he lost it's because he didn't train and lost focus. He is without a doubt the most overrated fighter in boxing. I'm a huge fan of Mike and physically he was gifted in the extreme, but he got completely destroyed bang in his prime and then spent the rest of his career cherry picking and then getting dominated some more.
Yeah, I love to watch Tyson go to work as much as anyone, but all of that you mention actually happened. :good
Not really: "The point of the poll was to achieve a community sentiment as to who were the greatest fighters of all time." Could mean anything? That was such a good line. Even Tyson looked pleased with it.
Nah, i enjoyed that fight and the madness surrounding it. "I think he saved my life!" *cries* etc. I think it was well worth it from your armchair. Imagine buying tickets though. Horrible.
Tony "ice cream" tubbs was not at his best, thomas was not at his best, Holmes foolishly rusty, spinks scared stiff.... Tony tucker was at his best but thats a less sensational win.
Well, yeah, it was an extravaganza. Don King in the P.T.Barnum tradition. I actually thought Pete was doing okay in there when his trainer stepped in. That raised conspiracy fix allegations, if i remember right. Apparently there was significant betting on when the fight would end, in minutes and seconds rather than rounds.
[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bAikdMRzOo8[/ame] The two things I love most - during the stare down McNeeley has a bit of a face on him a sort of sick grin whilst he lolls from side to side, it's almost convincing, but when the staredown breaks, the shot is over his shoulder, and when he turns the camera is right in his face and looks like he is about to vomit Then the way he charges across the ring all furious which is just awesome. I think Tyson was momentarily confused.
McNeeley reminds me of the crazy kid in the playground who will run face first into a wall if you ask him to. He knows you're laughing at him, but he still digs his status. He's the man that can.
OMFG XPERT POST m8 :thumbsup 100% AGREED!!:deal 1986 TO 1996 PRIME Tyson IS top 10 H2H at Heavyweight cos of his Power + Speed + intimidation - BUT he teh most FLAWED of teh top 10 H2H. Tyson big flaws = Glass Heart / spineless BULLY [relies on intimidation And hates it when people not scared] Glass Lungs And blows his load early - [but v.dangerous for 5 rounds] V.EASY to Frustrated / prone to frustration Only has a Plan A [get early KO] - has NO Plan B Weak Physically [got physically bullied by Ferguson, Bonecrusher, Douglas, Ruddock, Holyfeild, Botha, Lewis, Danny Williams And McBride...] ONLY can fight @ mid-range - TERRIBLE on teh inside EASY to clinch And LAZY in clinches Flashy overrated predictable headmovement can be timed by a good jab Midget height And T-Rex reach Foreman Hooooooook!:smoke:hat
Seriously, I really admire the way McNeeley came to fight there. When you see a guy with Bruce Seldon's superior talent go out the way he did a few fights later, you really have to give McNeeley his due.
