See now if Dempsey came with that mindset he could well win late. If he fights Tyson how he fought Firpo, Tyson probably winds his neck around like a clockspring.
Your assumption that Dempsey, has no chance against Tyson AT ALL, just isn't reasonable. If you don't think Dempsey has a chance ( even if it's 1 in a million), I'm sadly going to have to question your boxing knowledge at even the most basic level. Don't make yourself look like an idiot and just acknowledge their is a possibility that Dempsey would come out on top. You can still believe that Tyson would always beat Dempsey without posting completely biased ****.
Dempsey can enter the ring with any kind of mindset he wants. Once he feels Tysons power, his mindset will change to default. Its called survival mode.
Dempsey was a great fighter, but, not a great champion. What I mean by that is course he took a three year layoff. Too me, Dempsey look his largest most muscular when he fought Firpo. I think maybe he did some form of strength training for that fight, just a guess, but he looks bulked up. That Dempsey was big strong and fast and mean. That would be the Demspey that in my book would have been a very tough fight for Mike. Mentally, Mike was very fragile, while Dempsey was a human pitbull. All that being said, I have no idea who would have won.
That is certainly something to consider. Tyson could implode mentally, whereas Dempsey would go out on his shield without hesitation.
If Mike fought guys like Carpentier and Flynn, I don't think he would be pushed to his mental brink. Conversely, if Dempsey had fought Holyfield and Ruddock, he might have displayed markedly different fortitude.
Yeah but he never really looked disheartened when he was getting frustrated against Tunney. He never seemed to let up, even though he was getting outclassed.
