Bonavena lost those fights. He fought a green Frazier and a ring rusty Ali and he still LOST. Because I said Tyson does everything better than Bonavena and you challenged it! So I asked you in which area Bonavena is superior to Tyson? The answer is of course NONE!
I don't overate Tyson's opposition, I don't like him,as a matter of fact, neither do I overate Bonavena. I watched his career and he never beat a top flight boxer ,when he stepped up in class he was beaten.Marvis Frazier doesn't beat Bonavena ,that is just silly sarcasm when you've run out of argument.
You would be wise not to speak of resume when Bonavena's best two wins are over Mildenberger and an ancient Folley! Tyson beats Frazier too imo!

Bonavena had a different style to Tyson. It makes no sense to ask what he did better. He did things that Tyson didn't do, and the reverse is true too.

No, Marvis Frazier isn't silly sarcasm to me any more than Bonecrusher or Williams beating Bonavena is.

I pick Tyson to win so I don't know why you're arguing.
You take issue with the fact that I said Bonavena should last beyond the early stages and Tyson would have to fight hard ?

Bonavena's record speaks for itself. He was never stopped early. He was stopped once, in round 15, against Ali and that's probably among the top 2 or 3 stoppages Ali ever produced. And Ali was really great.

Tyson never beat anyone on the level of Frazier. But you're entitled to say he could, even though he was beat by Holyfield and Douglas.
My expectations for Bonavena are far more modest and less speculative than that. I'm not picking Bonavena to move up a level. Giving Tyson a decent fight isn't anything above the level he already proved to be. That's the reality.

Nope I take issue with you arguing that Bonavena did different things ,what things did Bonavena do that Tyson didn't? Average punchers put Oscar down. Bonecrusher beats Bonavena and Williams jabs his head off.
Bonavena was a crude slugger with no finesse average hand and foot speed and decent but not awesome power ,he had tremendous heart that's it. I pick Jerry Quarry to beat Oscar too!
NB Ali was absolutely awful against Bonavena .

Bonavena had his work cut out beating George Chuvalo!

!Oscar Bonavena, 203, used his left hook like a buzzsaw to chop down George Chuvalo, 215, for a majority 10 round decision at MSG Thursday night. Although there were no knockdowns in the fight, Bonavena, a 9-5 underdog, staggered Chuvalo in the 2nd and 4th rounds and even claimed to have inflicted the first knockdown of the Canadian's career in the 4th. Bonavena drove Chuvalo back on his haunches in the 4th with a series of rights to the head and were it not for the ropes which checked his backward lurch, Chuvalo might have hit the canvas." -United Press International

Many ringside observers felt Chuvalo had done enough to get the decision, forcing the action in most rounds and hurting the Argentine several times with slashing hooks to the body and head. More than once Bonavena took blows that almost had his knee touch canvas."
