Just a quick question regarding this fight I Just watched the fight on youtube and it seems edited, but at the end of the first round, Tyson says something to Smith, Smith replies and then Tyson punches him in the face....does anybody know the story behind this or what was said? Thanks :good
Possibly smith told him " you are a ****ing coward, you should face foreman" tyson looked at smith of challenging way , then i suppose that smith told him a something similar to " what are you looking? " and tyson did hit his face.
Tyson was easily frustrated, and it showed when he couldn't get to Smith in the first round. He probably said something obscene and classless, to rile Smith. Fair enough, but the punch was undisciplined, amateurish and blatantly a transgression. He didn't even get docked a point for that. Spoilt brat.
Ive tried to lip read Smith, he seems to say "Whats wrong Mike?" dunno if he was being sarcastic or not. The punch was funny though. After Smiths performance during the fight, i think he deserved the punch
Well, the idea is to land legitimate punches in the fight, not blatant cheap shots. It only took Tyson one round to reach that point of frustration. I don't think the punch was funny, Tyson just looked silly. Tyson should have lost a point at least. Smith performance was ****. Tyson's wasn't a hell of a lot better though. A crap fight altogether. Disappointing, because we were all expecting real fireworks.
really? when foreman was the champ, and he was in his prime mentally and physically in the years 1973-74.holmes was nobody in 73-77,and he never faced jimmy young or ron lyle when he was a prospect, and foreman was retired in 1977,this version of george73-74 would destroy any version of larry holmes, holmes did his pro debut in 1973, and he did not win even the gold medal at amateur. at this time holmes was a bucket of garbage, simple. and old foreman was better than old holmes by a mile. the old holmes who faced tyson would be raped by foreman 88-91,simple.
Thats why i enjoyed the punch, it was the only action during the whole fight. I just watched round 12, Tyson stuck his tongue out to Smith to try and goad him. Tyson looked pretty poor in this fight.
I was kidding. Don't get sand in your vagina lol. They still could've fought in the 90's but prime for prime I think Holmes may take it. Foreman still wouldn't be too pressed to fight Holmes as we all know how he did against very good/great boxers with durability:deal. Young and Ali for example.
holmes was not ali even in a million of years, ali had more stamina, much better chin, more heart, he was stronger mentally, he was better fighter, more intelligent, and he could not be knocked out, foreman was not in his prime when he faced young,he was depressed(just like tyson was bad mentally when he was destroyed by buster douglas, but foreman lost by ud, and young was much better than douglas). holmes faced to life or death against shavers(glass chin, no stamina, no skill, and he could not fight), spoon, weaver, old norton... foreman would finish holmes, and it is a fact. you put holmes in zaire in the place of ali and you get holmes ko otr tko, simple.
True. Other highlights included Tyson falling on his ass in round 7 (I think!), Smith being cut above the eye, and Smith actually deciding to throw and land a very good right hand in the final moments of the fight. I remember Tyson sticking his tongue out, and doing a funny dance with his hands. Comical "fight".
