Actually you are wrong, messrs King and Sulaiman felt Tyson won! ;)

I think people forget that. The referee is not a timekeeper, and the only proviso is the count is consistent.

King quickly changed his opinion when he saw the side by side comparison of the knockdowns. They were identical.

This isn't the Tunney-Dempsey situation where one guy got a count that was much slower than the other.

    Explain yourself.

A fighter can be down for an hour, doesn't matter... you go by the count you are giving (the ref). Douglas could have gotten up earlier, he was taking all the time that was given to him without being counted out. If the ref would have reached 8 or 9 sooner... Douglas would have gotten up sooner.

Pretty much the same explanation for Tunney against Dempsey.

Good God, this again. Buster could've gotten up earlier. HE was milking the count as one is supposed to.

Think about it this way, something very similar happened to Sonny Liston. In Ali-Liston II. When he took a dive, Walcott never even started the count. Yet, the timekeeper showed Liston was down for more than ten seconds and he was considered knocked out. According to Liston, he was milking the count. Just like Douglas was. I just don't see how it's fair Douglas gets the benefit of the doubt and Liston doesn't.

Douglas KO10. I didn't think the count was particularly slow and regardless it's the referee's count that counts.

Liston isn't really a valid comparison. Douglas got a legitimate count from the referee and so did Tyson. In Liston-Ali, Walcott lost control of the bout, Liston never received a count at all and ended up being waved off while he was on his feet on the say so of Nat Fleischer.

    Douglas ko 10.

He was visually following the ref's count and could have risen earlier in the count. It's not Douglas's fault the ref was counting slow.

    :rofl

If he was taking a dive, he was intentionally losing and would have never beaten the count regardless.

my thing is what is the point of having someone at ringside do the count. The refs count was behind the japanese guy's.
