To me, it doesn't matter whether the count was long or not for Douglas. I'm a Tyson fan and I believe Tyson didn't deserve to win that fight considering he didn't train and wasn't in shape. He deserved that loss and Buster deserved that win wholeheartedly.

Buster has already said he listened to the referees count, he said even if the referee had gave the real count he would still have got up no problem.

I think I have the answer. When selecting a referee for a title fight, part of the selection process should be how fast he can count to ten.

Ffs some of the dumb fuks on here are priceless.

Douglas followed the count, and got up before 10. It doesn't matter a fuk how slow the APPOINTED referee is at counting, the fighter follows him, and acts accordingly.

    Douglas was following the count.

It is not his problem the referee counted slow.

If the referee had counted correctly, Douglas still would have beat the count.

Don King's protest was rightly denied.

I'd like to know the reaction if Douglas got counted out (which wouldn't have happened anyway as he would have got up when the ref said), I doubt many would be singing Tyson's praises. Once ****ysed it would be seen as the biggest robbery of all time, to save an undefeated fighter. As a Tyson fan I am glad it happened the way it did. Don King was a disgrace and although Tyson distanced himself from making excuses he did go along with the long count to a degree which did him no favours, but was more understandable coming from a fighter dealing with loss. But Don King can **** himself.

Don King, who is kind of the Donald Trump of boxing, tried to steal the title from Buster in this fashion. He was proven wrong at the time, and nothing has happened to change this over the years. Buster could have gotten up.

In '65 with the whole Ali-Liston thing, Nat Fleischer assisted in the fukking up of that fight, by claiming the timekeeper's count was more important. It isn''t. It is the ref's count that matters.

I am more partial toward Tyson than most old-timers, but I agree with this. Douglas would've likely gotten up if the referee had administered the real count.
