Tyson vs Foreman circa 1987: Can we all be serious

Foreman tried getting a rematch with Holyfield instead of Tyson.....both Foreman and Holyfields opted to fight each other than sign to fight Tyson.

 

More Tyson apologists at work. Keep believing the fairytale that Tyson wanted to fight Foreman LOL

 

Not to be pedantic, but handheld miniguns don't actually exist. I think a better analogy would be someone with a Browning Automatic Rifle versus someone with an M4.

 

I don't have to believe I grew up in that era and the only one who avoided that fight was Foreman.He even fought Mike Jameson after Don King told him to fight a legit contender to make the fight believable.

I guess Foreman thought fighting a MIKE would prove something ?

 

Foreman just started his comeback in `87 and Tyson was really at his peak then. If were talking about a time they could've actually met then I think maybe `90 or `91. Tyson may be too fast and explosive but Foreman had those heavy hands and bull like strength. If George claims the middle of the ring and Tyson starts backing up what chance does he have then?

I think Tyson was already done mentally with boxing by the early `90s. He was going on because of the $ and he was a follower. I think George Foreman may have done a # on Mike Tyson mentally during their press tour. By the end of it Tyson would've thought Foreman was his daddy literally.

I think it a 50/50 fight. Two big punchers but honestly George was just tougher.

 

Foreman himself admitted Tyson would be too tough for him looking back BC of the speed. This was last year, ppl just want to ignore far less tougher guys Foreman avoided and even fights like the Qawi one...how many clean shots did Qawi land before tiring out ?

I really don't get the obsession to make Tyson out like he was a afraid to fight anyone...in fact he took on Ruddock twice when Foreman and co didn't want too.

Imagine the hate he would recieve today by today's fans and logic? We know this BC we see how fans treat actual superior talents today, only in the boxing world.

 

Well they wouldn't have said that about Tyson in that time period social internet media did not exist. With the better communication and media the boxing fan still finds ways to dumb themselves down...its sad and comical combined.

In the Tyson years fans just took things for what they were and who actually fought no revisionary history really existed. The fan saw a great fighter .today he would be hype job winning to easy...lol
