Foreman was a bad match-up, because 1) Mike was an aggressive come-forward counterpuncher who burned you with pressure if you wouldn't throw (which is the quality of a great counterstriker; to make the other man pay for playing it safe), and 2) was extremely well-drilled and focused, but also prone to being thrown off his game by tying him up, controlling him with grappling tactics and inside fighting. A finely tuned fighter, but not the chaos thriving dynamo that Frazier was.

That being said, Foreman came back old, and he slipping rapidly each year past the beginning of the 90's. I always like to take the Foreman from between Cooney and Holyfield fight as his prime second career. This one could be a mean match-up for Tyson, but age is always an immense factor, and with the grit Tyson showed in Ruddock slugfests, who knows.

Ali always told Foreman to stay away from Tyson, both Foreman and Tyson respected each other . The one fight I did think we would have seen around that time was Foreman v Holmes but unfortunately that fight also never happened .

Styles is a big part of why I don’t think Tyson would have much success with especially the older more wise and composed Foreman. Tyson wouldn’t be able to intimidate him for one. Old Foreman took an absolute pounding from Holyfield and kept going whereas Tyson was dominated in the first and quit in the second Holyfield fight. I don’t think Tyson does very well with any version of Foreman. It is what it is.

The aging process already took care of that, sadly.

But that said, while logic wouls say a prime or close to prime early 90s Tyson would have destroyed Old Foreman, there are persistent rumors Tyson wanted no part of that.

Prime Foreman would be a nightmare for Tyson but the version of the 90's would likely take a beating. That being said, he was strong, wiley and could tie up well and with his power you cant rule out old George.
