Tyson vs Foreman. What would the first few rounds look like?!

Please explain? Tyson in his prime was very hard to hit cleanly, he had an iron chin, and could hang in there the full distance. Plus he had serious punching power and countering ability, something he would have been able to easily take advantage of against George who often telegraphed his shots.

 

I remember how much Foreman wanted this fight and everybody thought he was mad, but after Douglas Foreman said he I told you so he was ready to be beat. Whether Foreman thought Tyson's style suited him or he had heard how Tyson was training who knows but he though he could beat Tyson.

If Foreman can last he might be able to stop Tyson late, but both guys were quick starters with granite chins and massive power.....Tyson's speed and defence (as opposed to Foreman's lack of it) make me think he would win.

Foreman is one of the few I would pick against Tyson....but not quite

 

This is a tough one to call, because both fighters have traits that play into the other's hands.

Foreman was comparably slow, and had poor defense. This plays very well into Tyson's speed and accuracy. Tyson LOVES these kinds of fighters. Tyson had a bloodthirsty personality---when he can land his confidence soars. And he would be able to land very well on Foreman. I also don't think Frazier/Foreman is that relevant to Tyson/Foreman. Frazier was a pressure/workrate fighter that wore high level opponents down over many rounds. While Tyson did move forward, he was much more of a bomber/KO artist.

Foreman did like people that came at him though, and he would have a reach advantage and would not be intimidated.

But a 70's Foreman lack of speed and disregard for defense coupled with Tyson's power, speed, and accuracy makes me pick Tyson. I could see this one looking similar to the Berbick fight.

A 90's Foreman would give Tyson a lot more trouble.

 

90's Foreman never fought a big puncher. 90's Foreman against any of the ATG swarmers, sluggers, etc. would be up the creek because of his lack of speed.

Guys like Holyfield and Moorer couldn't quite put him away because they didn't hit that hard (they were good punchers, but not great) Someone like Dempsey, Louis, Tyson etc. would have a field day with him imo.

 

Glass Jaw Tommy Morrison pitched a shutout decision over Foreman, and one round tyson KO victim Alex Stewart beat the snot out of Foreman, yet you think Foreman gives him a tough fight? 1990s foreeman was way too wide open and way to slow....Tyson of the ruddock fights dismantles and knocks foreman out cold in 4 rounds like he did to larry holmes

 

Besides his height & size....George has 2 serious weapons to use on Mike:

the jab & the uppercut.

Mike fighting at long range will be in trouble.

 

I like Tyson here. Usually guys who came into foreman couldn't win, but this is an exception....Tyson was much faster, much more skilled at midrange where foreman liked to fight, and tyson had the two fisted power and finishing abilities to put foreman away....Foreman is going to miss tyson alot as tyson rolls in his peek a boo, and tyson with his pinpoint accuracy will pretty much be able to land at the wild swinging foreman at will, and after tyson unloads with a few combinations foreman will go down and out.

Really Foreman wasnt that great in his comeback. He took valant beatings by just about everyone, got lucky landing a huge right on Moorer, but overall he was just slow and had a good heart to get beat down. Tyson destroyed Savarese, and Foreman couldnt knock him out, and the examples of Stewart and Morrison are the biggest telling signs that Foreman would have been in for a serious beating by Tyson. Maybe Foreman beats the Tyson that McBride beat, but thats probably it. George was just way too slow.

 

If you want to compare common opponents,I think George did a much better job against Evander,than Tyson did.

 

As weird as it sounds, Holyfield was a better Heavyweight after he lost his title. He became bigger and stronger and less willing to trade, electing to rely on his boxing brain to pull him through. Had Holyfield fought Tyson like he fought Foreman (toe to toe) he would of been knocked out.

Even so, how many rounds did Foreman win against Evander? Tyson was knocked out and Foreman went the distance, but Tyson came closer to stopping him in the 5th than Foreman ever did. People act like Foreman almost beat Holyfield, he didn't. He went the distance.

 

Big george stops him and stops him early. The fight itself would last a few rounds.
