I just reviewed the fight between Marvis Frazier and Tyson. Tyson koed Frazier in 30 seconds. In the interview his manager Jimmy Jacobs said he was in discussions with team Holmes to set up a match between Holmes and Tyson. Tyson was one fight away from fighting Trevor Berbick for the WBC HW championship. Tyson was 25-0 and Holmes had just lost a controversial decision to Micheal Spinks in the rematch. Who wins this match-up at that time?

wow. 2 of the most overhyped fighters facing off against each other.

My head tells me Holmes, my heart, Tyson

Holmes had a killer jab, and a great jab is what Evander used to great effect in his two Tyson wins.

But I don't think the Holmes jab would be enough to keep Tyson off him.

Not sure about '86 Holmes. He was already past it. But '80-82 Holmes would have beat prime Tyson pretty clearly. imo.

we are talking only 20 months....its not like the tyson of 1988 was much different than the tyson of 1986.....and holmes was on the slide anyway after 48 fights.....very receptiable to the over hand right...see shavers, snipes, and tyson...tyson was a beast on a mission back then...i would give the holmes of age 42 a better shot at winning against the tyson of 32

Tyson by ko, Holmes never saw anything like him, and had to tough it out over Weaver, Norton, and Witherspoon. Holmes would be game, give it a go, but it would not be much different than when they fought in 1988.
