What's everyone's predictions on this fight had Tyson not fouled his way out of the bout? Some say Tyson was in the best shape of his career and was starting to take over in the 3rd round. I still believe Holyfield was going to win. He walked through all of Tyson's shots and came back with better. I can't see any other result than Holyfield winning.
Holy won 1 and 2. Tyson won round 3, but he might have shot some of his load due to anger. Might have been a repeat of the first fight With Holy taking over in the second half.
Yeah I think what hurt Tyson the most is he went for it big time in the 3rd round yet none of his punches had any affect on Holyfield at all. Like Jose Torres said, Tyson must have been thinking "No matter what i do i can't beat this man."
Holyfield owned Tyson in those fights. He had answers for everything. His confidence was most impressive. He remonsrated strongly over the two bites (who could anyone in history not) but was 100% ready to rumble on. The opening was probably there to bung on a helluva turn and stop, certainly after the second. Some would have. He surely would have ended up the winner in the wash up. But no, he was still ready to punch on. Even at that early stage of the fight he knew Tyson was his.
Tyson wasn't taking over in the 3rd, he got dominated rounds 1 and 2 came out aggressively in the 3rd, hit Holyfield with his best shots realized he couldn't hurt Holy, knew he was in for another whipping and took the cowards way out by getting DQ'ed intentionally.
The fight was over in the first round. Tyson was the guy that got hurt & it needed to be the other way around for Mike to have a chance beating the guy. Instead it was a lets pick up where we left off thing. And the guys I was with--most had given odds at 6 and 7 to 1--knew it.
Exactly the way I see it, I wish I could see this mythical amazing 3rd round from Tyson but I just can't....
Yes, he knew by that point that he couldn't hurt Holyfield at all so he took the easy way out. It wasn't an impulsive action either, the bite was premeditated....
Tyson may have gotten himself into top shape but that was never really his problem in the first fight. He had no answers for Holyfield's tactics the legal ones and illegal ones and that would have led to another loss.
Anybody notice just before Tyson bit Holyfield he tried to break his arm? It was one of Tyson's favourite fouls....
