With the back of his head? Have a day off. Glyn Leach wrote in Boxing News that he felt Tyson rammed his face into Holyfield's head to get himself cut and the fight stopped. I thought not at the time but after fight 2 I reread the article and it made sense. Tyson was so out of his comfort zone vs Holyfield he started to concentrate on getting the fight stopped without losing face more than trying to win it, which he knew he couldn't do. His gangsta persona, which was so important to him at the time such was the Horne/Holloway influence, would have looked a bit lame if he got knocked out. But a clash of heads or, when he had seriously lost confidence and rational thought, the ear bite would have allowed him to look badass, without getting a protracted beating. Job's a good 'un.
"Gangsta persona"? Save the racist bs for Bill O'Reiley. Tell Leach I said he was an idiotic conspiracy theorist. The actual headbutt was incidental, I guess, maybe, but it's a straw that broke the camel's back situation. Holyfield continuously braces his head for impact when Tyson rushes in. Watch 8:46. Holyfield butts him. This is the second fight we're talking about https://youtu.be/unpMEvEZXAA Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Typical muppetry from the resident muppet. Crying the race card when a guy points out yet another truthful fact about the low life Tyson and his fascination with what Muricans call " gangsta's " at that time. All that rap ( c,rap ) garbage about women being *****s, and b!tches and other mindless drivel about shooting each other over wing mirrors on cars or anything else moronic they could dream up.
Anyone who still uses that word is out of touch with society. I think that word died with Tupac. And it's a thinly veiled racial slur anyway. Considering Tyson had no real allegiance to any gang by that point in his life, it's a word that could only be used by someone who is cranky and old. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Let's not try and change history in the name of being politically correct. The context of the conversation is describing Mike Tyson and the way in which he carried himself at that time. To suggest that he did not relate to gangsta rap is silly. In fact, his walk out song for the Holyfield fight was 2Pac. It can be argued that to deny the existence of gangster rap you're denying important part of the black experience being expressed. Regardless, it cannot be denied that it was a social phenomenon . Irrespective of the sensitivity that a few Justice Warriors feel compelled to hang their hats, denying it is in fact more racist in attempting to whitewash its existence.
As a Tyson fan I find it very hard defending Mike when it comes to these fights. I remember after the first fight that I really couldn't see Tyson winning the rematch, he was beaten in every department, the improvements he would have to have to make in a short time were too much in my opinion, the rematch was rushed. I felt it was a complete victory and Mike had his work cut out. Mentally he didn't seem right before the rematch, I remember thinking he must have known the task ahead was too big and I wondered how he would deal with the pressure, especially as the fight was postponed, which seemed like a bad sign to me. I never believed he would do what he did though, maybe something else. Alarm bells rang for me when he lunged at Holy with his head round 7 of the first fight, a blatant attempt to get the fight stopped imo. I really think Tyson knew he was in trouble and had an escape route, I see him as pretty much a con man post prison. He showed he was weak minded in relation to the people around him. He came out for round 3 without his gum shield so personally I think he was ready to use that escape plan, it wasn't spontaneous, he gave one last effort and that was it. He realised Holyfield was just too tough, so tough in fact he had to keep biting his other ear to get the fight stopped as Evander wouldn't be the one to stop it, how scary is that for Mike, he bites a mans ear off in the ring and that man STILL wants your head. For all Mike's pretend crazyness that night, Evander came out the real bad ass. It really was a terrible night for Tyson and his fans, I was never so let down as a fan. Again, massive fan of Tyson's and this stuff is hard to say but its just the way it was, you cant excuse it and Holy owned Mike when they actually fought. Prime for prime is another subject but you have to take a lot from real events. Holyfield's mental toughness would always have been a problem, the evidence shows it. I give Tyson a chance if he could overwhelm Holy but if it went on who the tougher man was mentally, Mike would be in trouble.
Go find some quote where Tyson calls himself a "gangsta". Go find a picture of him making a gang sign. What gang did he affiliate with in 95? Who did he point guns at, etc.? Can you name another derogatory word used against black men that was shortened to have an "a" on the end? Tupac was a friend of Tyson and he got shot after the Seldon fight. If you think Tyson played Tupac's music in order to proclaim himself a "gangsta" you're either ignorant or an idiot. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
LMAO!!! Referencing gangsta rap is not racist. Apparently "Gangsta Rap" is too much for your delicate sensibilities despite the fact that it was term created by black hip hop artist to identify their form of hip hopdescribing ghetto life and the thugs who dominated it. Ice T, NWA, Tupac didn't have the benefit of hipster superiority to protect them from themselves. Forgive them they didnt know they were being racist they thought they were depicting their reality. Mike Tyson related to and embraced this world. He was actually jumped into a gang at age 11 and was arrested numerous times as a result of taking part in their criminal enterprises. As a result of these arrests he was placed in a home for boys and ultimately remanded to the custody of Cus D'Amato due to the fact that he showed boxing promise. He was cautioned by some members of The Five Percenters to to cease engaging in criminal activities in order not to ruin his chances of a promising boxing career. If you're old enough you may recall Tyson saying some thuggish thing. "White boy, f*ggot, you can't touch me you're not man enough, I eat your ass all alive, you *****, can't anybody in here f*ck with this, this is the ultimate. F*ck you, you hoe! Come say it to my face, you *****. Come on you *****, you're a scared coward, you're not man enough to f*ck with me, you can't last two minutes in my world *****. (At this point the reporter backs away deeper into the crowd) Look you scared now, you hoe. Scared like a little ******* *****. Scared of the real man! I'll f*ck you till you love me." Read more: http://www.shavemagazine.com/sports/080602#ixzz4ERZ9K800 He discussed at length that he wanted to kiss razor ruddock on his big lips depicting a pseudo jail cell incarceration scenario. You see he was attempting to make his opponent relegated to the role of his b**ch this is a term in which a prisoner treats another as if he were a woman. Again, perhaps I should have included some sort of a trigger warning for you but the fact remains it is an example of the thuggish behavior adopted by him during that period. Also, here is a story from last year: http://www.boxinginsider.com/headli...to-have-ordered-hit-on-brooklyn-drug-kingpin/
Did you remember to engage your brain before putting your big, fat, imbecilic mouth into overdrive? Idiot.
Its funny to see the anti-Tyson sentiments and posts here. Holyfield has been more humble, mature where he openly admits he never beat the best version of Tyson
