Let’s say Tyson KO’d Douglas with that uppercut he dropped him with, then Tyson vs Holyfield happens. How does it go?
I´m not sure how serious Tyson took the upcoming Evander at the time. I think Rooney was mentioning Holyfield as a possible next at the Spinks post fight press conference. Thats three weeks before Holyfield made his HW debut against Tillis. Even in 90 Tyson believed Ruddock would beat Holyfield. Without taking Evander 1000% legit, he might not have beaten him at that stage. The Tyson engine started breaking down at the time anyway. But I think what we can assume is: When Tua-like slowmo made it 11 against the argubly harder punching, stronger Holyfield in 96, I don´t see him beeing stopped against Evander in 90. Conclusion: I see Evander taking a decision in a good fight.
As with all things Tyson it's not a straightforward answer. 1987 - 1988 Tyson beats Holy convincingly. Tyson was still interested & Holy was green as a heavyweight & still growing. Sorry guys, but a prime Tyson isn't losing to a small, green heavyweight. The scheduled June 1990 fight is murky, Holy's got 2 more years of experience & growth & Tyson.....as mentioned above.....is now a bored & lazy fighter & would probably totally overlook Holy. I'll take Holy by decision in a close fight. 1991, Tyson's had his ass handed to him & it appears to reinvigorate him, no longer the D'mato fighter, but a well trained hungry fighter. Holy's settled nicely at Heavyweight, but he's not beating a hungry Tyson, he'd get killed to the body with that small waist & his habit of easily being drawn into a brawl plays into Tyson's hands. Tyson TKO8 in an epic brawl. Holy probably takes the re-match though.
