Tyson vs. Lewis, Prime for prime - who wins?

Prime Tyson didnt know how to lose and had a real killer instinct, the likes of which the division had not seen since Jack Dempsey and have not seen since. Post 1990 Tyson no longer had the drive, intensity, and will to win, but in his prime I dont think Lewis would hold up against the aggression and punching power of Iron Mike. He punched through his opponents, and a tall long body like Lewis would have been chopped down. I can see Lennox tying up a lot but not having too much sucess actually keeping Mike at bay. I like Mike by 5th round tko.

To me this is about a 50-50 fight.

Tyson could storm out and catch Lewis and end it early, but then again Lewis would be looking for that exact strategy and he'd be using his size, upper cut and jab to make sure it doesn't happen. As the fight goes on it would be a question of whether or not Tyson could get inside to the mid range area where he'd need to be, without taking too many uppercuts or being manhandled by the much bigger Lewis.

Basically if the fight lasts more than 3-4 rounds I like Lewis' chances. For me the fact when they fought, Lewis had Tyson hurt in the first round, and was impossing his size is telling because it would show the type of strategy Lewis would likely use if they were both prime. Add the fact that Lewis bombed out Ruddock, a fighter who gave Tyson hell in his prime and I'm leaning towards Lewis. But it's a tough call.

 

Lewis easily. Tyson was overrated as hell. Never beat ANYONE.

 

Lewis wins with ease, prime or no prime. Tyson never learned how to handle two things: A guy fighting back and a guy hugging and weighting him down.

Prime Lewis would easily take a prime Tyson apart any day of the week.

As mentioned his peekaboo style and speed were designed to get inside on taller fighters. Once Tyson was in range, I don't see Lewis taking many of those bombs with his chin.

Lewis and Steward knew this. Just look at how cautious/scared Lewis and Steward both were against the far past it and docile Tyson.

Round 1. - Fighters feel each other out.

Round 2. - Lewis establishes the jab

Round 3. - Tyson slips the jab, zips inside, lands 5 punch body/uppercut/hook combo
