If Tyson puts him on ***** street I can't see Liston recovering.

Man I was gonna make this post earlier because of similar discussions. Really is a tough one because Liston destroyed Patterson and they basically had the same style but Tyson was just more solid took a better punch and had more power...both head cases. Fight def ends within 6 my gut tells me Liston but wouldn’t count out Tyson having slightly more heart.

Liston brings nothing to the table Tyson has not seen before....Berbick was strong and awkward......Thomas had a great jab....Ruddock had elite power......Smith was strong as a ox with big power......Tucker was smooth, great jab/movement....Bruno had a jackhammer jab with a big right behind........etc etc etc...were they perfect fighters, no, but all very, very capable with some belts around their waist..all of the above were big dudes with skills not bums and Tyson barely lost a round or flat out Ko'ed them.

Sonny has never seen a power house like Tyson, Liston has no size advantage to speak off.............textbook footwork/speed, immense handspeed, killer instinct, almost granite chin, fast beyond fast in combos and the list goes on.

Tyson would come under Listons slow jab all day long countering with hooks......Liston rarely clinches, is not fast and is going to fight fire with fire but will be beat to the punch every single time..........the recipe to defuse Tyson is clinching, movement and a jab.....Liston only got one out of the three, it aint enough. Prime Tyson had to be severely beat down for rounds and rounds and he still kept on coming.......Liston found the soft spot while hardly taking any hard punishment twice.

Tyson KO between 4-6 and I would put money on it.

Mike Tyson ain't going to intimidate Sonny Liston, so Tyson is behind when the bell rings. Tyson will be on the mat looking for his mouth piece again around the 7th round

Tyson knocks him out within 6.

Sonny had a habit of bringing his left back low after the jab because he could afford to...against an elite swarmer who could counter like Mike, he'd be in trouble. Sonny's jab was powerful, but it didn't have a ton of speed on it. You'd need a faster jab to control Tyson. Sonny was also more plodding- again, something he could get away with in his era vs the style of heavyweights out there. Versus Mike, that would get exposed.
