Could a case be argued, in any way, that Tyson has a better "pure" chin than Marciano?

Not saying I believe it, but curious if a case can be made for it.

I feel Marciano had for more heart and grit, but for raw durability, I'm not sure. I also feel Tyson's body/neck were more pre-made to take a punch, among other small details.

The shots he took from Ruddock and Bruno while barely being stunned. Don't know if they wouldn't at least drop Marciano. But, Marciano would rise without a doubt, while I feel Tyson would not after multiple similar shots.

I've never seen Tyson out cold, but I have seen him TKO'ed after prolonged beatings, but aware on the canvas.

His Danny Williams quitting was more due to a badly injured ankle from what I've gathered.

    Thoughts?

I think Tyson was better at taking single shots, but when a ton of pressure was put on him, and he was nailed with multiple hard shots in a row, that's when he cracked where as Marciano just got pissed.

Tyson has a better chin than Rocky for sure.

Tyson's problems were located in other of his anatomy in my opinion.

    I'd agree with this completely.

Said it better than I could.

I do think Tyson would stand up to a single herculean punch better than Marciano. He was a more stoutly-built man and clearly had a very thick skull to go along with it. However, Tyson could be broken down through accumulation by relatively unimpressive punchers (Douglas, Holyfield), while Marciano's capacity for absorbing consistent streams of punches without being slowed down or fazed at all was truly amazing. Hence, I would say that their chins were each best in certain capacities- remember that the term "chin" is really used to refer to something composed of an extremely broad range of factors.

I wouldn't call someone who blew Bowe over when he was exhausted and dropped Ray Mercer unimpressive. Ever.

think of it this way......When have you ever seen marciano on rubbery legs, stunned badly, on the verge of knockout, stumbling around the ring on film? I think his durability is amazing. Even in the amatuers he faced 17-0(17ko) 6'3 220lb # 1 amatuer in the world coley wallace, and wallace couldn't floor him despite landing everything but the kitchen sink.

Tyson had incredible durability as well. Up until the douglas fight, Tyson hadnt even been fazed yet, not even close to being floored taking tucker uppercut, bonecrusher right hand in round 12, big bruno bomb, one of the hardest hitters ever razor ruddock landed flush on tyson with a left hook tyson didnt blink

Did you or did you not see the word "relatively" prefacing that word in my post?
