But not compare to Charles 1 though. Marciano look like he could have gone other 15 rounds in Charles 1 at that high pace.

Vs Moore, he look more winded. Sure he could have went the entire 15 if needed to. BUT he did not look as fresh as Charles 1. I belive Marciano vs Walcott 1, LarSarza II, Charles 1 and 2, were the best we saw of the Rock.

He used a verry diferent aproach in Walcott I to Charles I and II.

In Walcott I he played the slugger while in Charles I he played the swarmer.

But still it was he best in all 4 fights. I think 1952-54 was his peak.
Sure Goldman change the Rock's style, for the better imo. But He was at or near his peak.

Round 1- Tyson does most of the leading, lunging in with hooks...Rocky takes some of the power off with his glove but is driven back some by the shots. Marciano lands a good right near the end of the round. Several clinches....Tyson round.
Round 2- Tyson comes out the same as round 1, maybe with a few more jabs to show his versatility. Marciano may start to swell already, catching a few shots from Tyson here and there. Marciano showing only his chin....Tyson round.
Round 3- Tyson may stun Marciano with an uppercut and sensing his advantage, begin to open up more. Marciano gets a few counters in that get Tyson's attention. Tyson gets hit more, but it's still his round.
Round 4- Tyson tries a more tactical approach, wary of the rights he absorbed in the previous round. The Rock senses his caution and begins to out-tough him on the inside. Marciano fires off a rally on Tyson. Tyson takes it but doesn't like where it's heading. Marciano's round.
Round 5- Marciano was never a defensive standout, and in this round, it will cost him. Throwing caution to the wind, Rocky takes a stunning left hook from Tyson that floors him. Marciano rises only to be met by a violent barrage from the greatest combination of speed and power the heavyweight division has ever seen. TKO 5 Tyson.

For the ones who think Tyson was as a child bigger than Marciano (and never took something illegal and never lifted weights):

You´re laughable and it´s amused how much (in this case less) knowledge you have in boxing and bodybuilding...

Insider- knowledge would be good for some of you before posting...

Tyson never had half the balls of Marciano, who "could take a licking and keep on ticking"Ruby Goldstein ,who refereed the Marciano Louis fight was asked if he felt Rocky was ever in trouble during the fight ,he replied,"It would be hard to tell if Rocky was ever in trouble, because hitting him was like hitting a stone wall. If he was ever hurt he didnt show it. He was a rough tough ,game guy who came to fight ,and came to win". Marciano weighed under 190lbs but it was all balls and heart, that isnt Tyson who has a bullys mentality.

....... coming from someone who thinks Marciano is bigger than Tyson

Did you know that Marciano actually was bigger than Lennox Lewis?? It's true, Marciano walked around at 244lbs once in his fourties, and Lewis was only 190 pounds when he was 16 so Marciano is definitly the bigger guy. At fighting weight, Lewis and Tyson just have more of that useless stuff called muscle which makes them look bigger than Marciano.

Exactly why I started this thread.

Nobody is talking about Marciano's stylistic advantage, because its not there.

Nobody is talking about Marciano's technical superiority because Tyson is the more technically competant fighter.

What people are talking about is how hitting Marciano was like hitting a stone wall or how Tyson is a bully or how Tyson will quit because he'll be discouraged, or anything to level the uneven playing field.

Those that are picking Marciano are picking his character not his ability. They want to see him win, especially against Mike Tyson. So I call it the myth of intangibles because I firmly believe that people are using these "intangibles" to make up for a fighter's shortcomings. What they don't realize is that ultimately those "intangibles" cannot supercede a stylistic disadvantage.

    1. Patterson had alot of heart, didn't help him against Liston even though Liston is man some label as a quitter.

    2. Frazier had alot of heart, didn't help him against Foreman even though Frazier has a stellar workrate and George is a man notoriously known for fading late during his first career.

    3. Holyfield had alot of heart, didnt help him against Bowe even though Holyfield always comes ready to fight and Bowe has a tendancy to get lazy.

    4. Marciano has alot of heart, won't help him againt Tyson....(well you can see where this is going)

Holyfield's heart did carry him to two victories over Tyson, which might be more relevent to this thread.

I would also question the technical proficiency arguement. Tyson was much easier to hit with an overhand right than Marciano was, as Douglas proved.

He may have done pushups, pull-ups and things like that, but he didn't necessarily have to pump iron. He just had good genes.:good

Marciano never weighed as much as 200lbs, even in his 30s, so how in the world is he bigger than Tyson who was 200+ as a teenager?

    Wise up.:good
