I would hazard a guess that this is the "weathering the storm argument": Tyson faded in fights, which was plain as the light of day. How many times did he have to go 12 rounds? However, Rocky was known for his stamina.

If we assume the "time machine theory" (prime Rocky is brought from the past or vice versa to fight prime Mike), then it comes down to whether The Rock can take Tyson's punch, because it is fairly likely that Tyson would land something heavy and clean. This is not foregone, because it is well documented that Marciano was not easy to hit cleanly. If he couldn't take Tyson's bombs, Let's assume it would be KO Tyson. On the other hand, if Marciano's fairly granite (of the time) chin could withstand the assault, I would certainly bet that in a 15 round fight he would catch up with Tyson and KTFO of him.

    Other factors to consider:
    - Marciano was consistent over his career, while Tyson ended up getting KTFO by some tomato cans. What is this worth when you compare fighters? (E.g. There are baseball teams that on their day are unbeatable but never win anything).
    - Marciano did not really jab well, which was a real thorn for Tyson against Buster and Lewis for example. That gives Tyson an edge in style.

My opinion: Marciano's chin would outlast Tyson's brutal assault and The Rock would tire Mike out with relentless pressure until he KTFO of him late.

But it is impossible to be certain until they have the technology to calculate punch resistance and punching power from video footage (e.g. calculating acceleration through the punch and deceleration at the moment of impact, estimating body weight into the punch and factoring other intangibles then coming up with an accurate measurement of force (mass X acceleration)). Thereby seeing if the power of bombs thrown by Tyson were heavier than the bombs Marciano was eating.

    How logical.

Let's base their entire careers on the first round of their first big fight.

    Taking it a little further:
Marciano was not hurt, got up, KTFO Walcott and never lost.
Tyson KOed Berbick (so what, what would Walcott do to Berbick?), beat some good opposition and then lost to Buster Douglas.

    :bbb

Yeah, what would Tyson do to Don Cockell? Probably 10x what Randy Turpin did to him and Turpin totally 'mashed' him. ;)

I already stated that i have no problem with people picking Marciano. I like both Marciano and Tyson.

But saying that Marciano is bigger than Tyson is really delusional, whether you've been lifting weights since you're 13 or not.

I said that they "weren't intimidated until they got hit the first time".

Biggs wasn't intimidated before Tyson landed his first bomb.

Marciano wouldn't be intimidated after Tyson lands his first bomb.

Rock fought out of the crouch, and was much harder to hit in the ring than anyone who fought him expected......and he would have vidios of Tyson....in Rock did better the three times he faced the same fighter, out side of Lowery, who at the time of the first fight was a true contender.

Why are you laughing so damn stupid? Do you even know now which fighters are my favourite fighters? I defend Marciano here often, but I would do it with every ATG when he needs it, when it comes to Marciano people are often unequable, and Rocky is IMO here one of the most hated fighters. And don´t contort now the words, Chris. I didn´t write that Marciano was bigger than Tyson, I simply wrote that Marciano was naturally bigger, that´s a big difference. Tyson lifted weights very early in his life (when D´Amato picked him up from the streets), he was in the golden era of roids, and when you look at how he looks after his career, it´s pretty informative. All from his body is the same or smaller than back in his career, except for his belly. When Marciano retired, he gained immediately so much weight, and it wasn´t just fat or his belly. I have some pictures from the NYT where you can see his hand, and this hand looks so big like from a fat butcher, face it, when Marciano would have been in the 80s, he would been bigger than your boy Mikey, no speculation, it´s realistic...

I love this, when someone don´t have any arguments anymore, he contorts things and tries counters like "Oh, Marciano, you decidedly love him because he was Italian American..." and so on...

With the last sentence, I didn´t mean you, I meant it in general, when someone don´t know how he can respond now, than he comes with trash like that, as if boxing is a teamsport where you roote for your country...

Chris, believe me, I´m relaxed, but to be honest, when I myself read my last posts, it doesn´t sound so. **** that weight ****, you know, I like and respect you. Cheers! :cheers

Btw, you know that I live in Munich now, where the Oktoberfest (Wiesn) is right now, so I´m even more relaxed... :thumbsup
