One thing that I don't understand is why people constantly want to fantasize about what would have happened if Tyson kept his act together. Why all the love for him? He's a terrible human being for one thing.

At his peak, he was a phenominal athlete, yes. It was such a brief peak though. He was only exceptional for the brief moment that he was surrounded by world class handlers, listened to them, and trained hard.

In my opinion, it just isn't fair to fighters with long and distinguished careers to put Tyson up on a pedestal over his very brief prime, which he never came close to recapturing after suffering his first loss.

Nobody can say definitively whether Tyson or Marciano would have won. I think a lot of people are blinded by what they like to think Mike Tyson was, and could have been. Conversely, I think some people have a tendency to overrate Marciano as well, but he was a great fighter and you can't reasonably say Tyson automatically beats him.

Just for the record, I think both guys get their asses handed to them by prime Ali/Frazier/Foreman. I could be wrong, though. Picking fights is never an exact science as we've seen so many times.

Do you have inside information that Tyson took steroids? Were you tipped from from a friend of Cus or a member of the Catskill team?:huh

When I wrote "**** that weight ****", I didn´t mean it only to Chris, I don´t talk now anymore, especially with a Marciano-hater and a kiddie who´s famous for his black propaganda like you...

Marciano's prime wasn't that long either. It only lasted two or three years in and of itself.

Ok, so because I say something that is so obvious, (that Marciano was not bigger or naturally bigger for that matter than Tyson) that it could be proven just by looking at simple pictures, that means that I am either a Marciano-hater or a "black propagandist"? You sir need to grow up.:good

It´s well-known that you hate Marciano. And that the black fighters are the best, nothing new. So why should I waste my time and discuss with you here? The result is like always the same, I frazzle you verbally, and than you say that I hate Tyson (in this case) and that I´m ignorant (just because I don´t run with your black propaganda), that doesn´t make any sense. And I´m not the one who needs to grow up, you´re this one, everyone here can endorse it...

Marciano didn't lose to a mediocre fighter during his physical prime and then turn into an unstable mess who got KO'd by a past-prime Holyfield and other lesser fighters.

Marciano was smart not to fight beyond his prime. I give him credit for having the willpower to walk away.

I'm not saying Marciano was the greatest ever as some might want to do. I'm not saying he was better physically in his prime either. He was a solid all-around fighter with amazing endurance and a great punch. Saying that Tyson automatically walks through him is assanine. I think any reasonable person would agree with that.

You're telling me to grow up when you're the one ranting and raving about me being a hater and a propagandst? What a pity.:-(

I don't hate Marciano. I have nothing against the man as a person. Just because I pick against him in fantasy matchups, doesn't mean I hate him. Man, you really do need to grow up.:yep

P.S. - You might want to refrain from usin that term "black propaganda". You sound kind of condescending that way.:good

It not "assanine" if you look at their strengths and weaknesses. Now I'm not saying if you don't think that then you are assanine, but it's not as far-fetched as you're trying to make it out to be.

P.S. - Marciano didn't have a Don King or a Robin Givens to run into.:good

I didn't say an early KO for Tyson wasn't a possibility. I'm referring to comments from people who say it's automatic, as well as some who said that Marciano still loses if the fight doesn't end early. I don't think either are meritable positions to take.
