Exactly he went to war with Corrie Sanders when Corrie was still in his prime, he banged it out with David Tua, and did well there and though he was stopped it was questionable and Tua did tag him after the bell prior to the round it was stopped. I think a 2001 Rahman beats Mike.
Tyson-Mercer did not happen becuase Lewis took some sort of legal action to stop it from happening! Lewis claimed at the time he took action because if Tyson lost it would scupper all plans for Lewis vs Tyson. However, I take a slightly different view. Before Lewis, Tyson fought Brian Nielsen (hardly good, let alone ideal preparation for Lewis) & even Nielsen was Tyson only fight in twelve months. Lewis knew Mercer would have provided Tyson with a test & it would have been a chance for Mike to get more rounds in, shake off some of the rust, get his timing back, etc. All that about Lewis was worried about Tyson losing to Mercer is bollocks, a feeble excuse! Lewis knew if Tyson-Mercer happened, then Tyson would have been better prepared for their showdown in June 2002! I'm saying Mike would have won, but he would have been sharper had he fought Mercer in Jan 2002 as scheduled!
A 2001 Tyson is the last Tyson even resembling the ˙˙prime Tyson˙˙ and the last in shape Tyson. And the last time he actually looked ˙˙furios˙˙. Tyson of the Savarese fight would **** Rahman until he loved him and then some more. :yep
Your allowed to have your own opinion. but a 2001 Tyson could only bang it out consistantly for about 3 good rounds.
Rahman is one of the worst boxers that ever held a belt. His entire HW career can be reduced to the one single punch that decked Lewis, the rest is one hell of an inconsistent and mediocre track record.
