Tyson vs Ruddock fights

Tyson looked OUTSTANDING in the 1st fight.

2nd fight, not so much. He looked undertrained and sluggish, very similar to how he looked against Douglas. Luckily, he was in with an opponent that didn't possess the skillset of Douglas or he would've been up shits creek.

Ruddock himself said in an interview he was never the same. And he thought he did the same to Tyson...which Tyson later admitted on "Center-Stage" {show} that he was burnt out after the second fight...maybe even the first.

They were damaging fights. We are talking about one man that weighs 215+ solid muscle who is known for his power and attack...and another weighing 227-238 who is a big strong MFer who can also punch extremely hard going at it for two fights with not much defense. Just trading off power shots. When you can hear how loud the shots are just watching it from video/TV, that's impressive.

And looking how they both looked at the end of the second fight... they looked like they made it through hell and showed respect for each other.

In those fights, I will say this: Tyson showed toughness and heart. His skill-set was declined and he was more brawler than "boxer." He lacked the fluidity he once had. And his game-plan wasn't anything brilliant. And he was willing to trade with a bigger stronger guy who could punch very hard who had no fear of him and understood going into the fight that Tyson could be hurt and KO'd...because he had been before.

But where is the credit?

Tyson, like any "Bully," would fold when you don't fear him, stand up to him, and punch him back?
Bull****.

Tyson had no heart?
He was stunned/shook in the first fight and his instincts were to fight back. And he fought back and went on to win by KO.

And, he fought Ruddock again in his very next fight.
And that was a tough fight.

 

Ok. See if I can track it down. Only thing I can do is Google Search interview because I don't remember which site it was on (although it could have been linked on this site/front page). Written interview; not video.

ruddock struggled with page....throwing bombs....no technique...i have the fight on vhs...bert cooper fuked up cecill cofees nose on the undercard............i luved razor but he really did struggle with page until he lowered the boom at the tale end of the 8th rd.......page never went down/ but fight was smartley stopped he was fuked up on his feet.....as for phil jackson god he got knocked out by jeremy williams jab....:-(

 

Eh. Tried doing a quick google search. Hard to find. not much there. Maybe get some help searching for his interviews because someone may remember the interview.

The key was Ruddock basically saying that he felt the fights between him and Tyson took something out of them both. Took their primes away.

Don King played mindgames because he did not want a rematch, he thought it would not do much $$$ wise and the fight was on/off several times but eventually Don handed Mike the contract at a strip club with three weeks notice..........no wonder he looked sluggish and he definitely could not pull the trigger like he used to, the Tyson of old would have finished Ruddock off at the very latest after the second knock down.

 

I did hear a prominent Tyson-fangirl saying all them big lowblows in teh Tinkerbell-Razza Rematch ruined them both cos they were both not wearing any foul-protectors!!:rofl:rofl
