Thanks for posting this. I have this on a VHS tape from the 80's. Ive never found it complete on the internet to post to some of the people who dont really understand the importance that Rooney played in Tyson's career and how that style works. The second to last video where Rooney breaks the fight down in slow motion about the half way point, is very interesting and it shows how good defensively Tyson really was. What looked like a wild brawl was in reality a very controlled performance.
Man the good old days....... I remember boxing back then, I miss it... I have been watching alot of my old Tuesday Night fights cards of late... It was just great growing up with boxing in the 80's and 90's...
I have this on VHS somewhere. I also have the commercial where Tyson and Spinks are nose to nose with Spinks stating, "Now we'll see who's the champion!" and Tyson follows that up with, "Yeah, and who's the chump!" Give me a few days to find it and I'll post it on youtube.
Because of this special I learned that Mike Spinks wasn't even a big puncher at LHW because he went rounds with Willie the Bull Taylor and that Ray Leonard said this fight was 50/50
Well, I found the outtakes video on youtube. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nlehiBciLGM&feature=player_embedded[/ame]
For all those who remember this in the summer of 1988, and for all of you who weren't even born yet, here it is... [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eQicf3tPUT0[/ame]
LARRY: So, there you are, the anatomy of a knockout...and there...is the anatomy of the man, who was knocked out. KEVIN:...hehe.
I thought Spinks was a proper weirdo when he was at the podium in the black suit. Wtf was he playing at?
There was more pre-fight and post-fight because Spinks didn't put up much of a fight to begin with. People were going to fill their glasses and grab popcorn in the first round only to see the fight end. 91 seconds to be exact.
