I was just watching Tyson vs. Spinks on ESPN Classic. I was curious if anyone knew the music Tyson entered the ring to. And also I what were the odds around fight time ? It looks as if spinks didnt stand a chance by his actions before the fight. Very scared ! Also is that Larry Hazzard in the white bow tie and no undershirt in the white suit in Spinks corner before the bell ?
Also that same guy was jumping into the ring as Spinks was going down. Does anyone know who this man in one of the worst outfits of all time is ?
thanks. I wonder if butch still has Faruq Saleem ? He hasnt fought in a long time. I cant believe that outfit though.
Yes it indeed was Butch Lewis, he had Faruq and Vicious Vaughn Bean, I don't think he has either any more.. Butches father was in fact one of the original Cloverlay members who put up the cash to form a co operative to turn Joe Frazier pro after the Olympics in Tokyo... Each man got a share in what was Joe Frazier Inc...
Tyson was punching holes in the walls of Spinks dressing room, no wonder Spinks looked scared to death in his ring entrance.
It was one of the most intimidating ring entrances ever, with Tyson rushing in between an enormous crowd at the Trump Plaza with some deafening metallic drums blasting - Michael Spinks had his mouth dry and members from his team were putting fingers in their ears by then ( exception for Butch in one of the greatest moments of his career along with Holmes-Spinks). Butch was one of the most irritating personalities in boxing ever. Even Michael Spinks had to take a break during one of his 15 rounds with Holmes to beg Lewis to STFU, something that Holmes must have experienced as one of the strangest moments of his long career.
Yeah, that was Lewis's trademark, Tuxedo with no shirt. I always thought it looked ridiculous, but for him, it was like Don King's ridiculous hairdoo. Boxing has a way of attracting weird characters like this.
