    I think a prime tyson:

Loses razor thin, disputable decisions to ali and holmes

KO'S Frazier in 10. speed is the deciding factor in this one

outboxes foreman on route to a decision win (mike could really box. look at the tucker and smith fights)

    Sparks shavers early

Struggles with norton but ko's him late

Wins a close decision against a prime liston. makes the liston who ali fought quit

ko's cooper, williams, banks, ellis and terrel very early

Destroys ron lyle (who gets off the floor 6 or 7 time before being stopped). struggles with Jimmy young until knocking him out late

i think you pretty much summed it up well i cant really disagree with what you said, apart from holmes who he heavily KOd i could see him doing the same again, holmes never really hard a hard run as champ, 87 tyson kos him inside 10

You don't think Foreman would handle Tyson? I sometimes wonder about that myself to be honest... I'll still give the edge to George, however.

I dont take it for granted.

Tysons handspeed combined with the fact that he was not a shell, might put the fight back on an uncertain footing.

I agree, to a point. One thing I notice in classic posts is that Foreman handles ALL of Tyson's ilk ALL the time. This impression is basically arrived at through what Foreman accomplished vs Joe Frazier. Foreman's win against Frazier was a great one, but I don't think Joe was tip-top.

Tyson is a good deal bigger than Frazier. He also had power in both fists AND in combinations.

    Holmes TKO 9 Tyson
    Frazier TKO 6 Tyson
    Foreman TKO 4 Tyson
    tyson TKO 2 Shavers
    Tyson TKO 6 Norton
    Liston TKO 5 Tyson
    Lyle TKO 12 Tyson
    Tyson dec over Young/Ellis
And agree w/ early KO's aginst the others

Seems to me he is over rated yeat again!

Tyson was an intimidator, and sought to use it as
his major advantage. If we are talking prime on prime, then "who would not be intimidated?"... so then it becomes size, heart, skill, and will to win.

Ali, Foreman, Lyle, Holmes, Liston, Frazier & Shavers aren't going to be scared because they all have the tools to beat Tyson and they know it. (whether they do it, will be settled in the ring)

Norton we all know what will happen there.

The rest of the fighters he centainly beats.

What about the early 70's Quarry who can box & slug....the one who knocked out many top contenders. Put him in MSG with Gil Clancy in his corner and he might upset Tyson if he himself doesn't get stopped on cuts.

Quarry is one of my favs...but I just don't see him pulling this one off! I hate the Foreman/frazier so it would happeb to Tyson comparrison...but I see the same thing here in reverse...Quarry could land some monster shots and maybe even hold an early rd 2/3 pts lead....I just see tyson in 5-7 before Quarry gets a chance to get Tyson into later rds..Tyson in 5 maybe 7 on a good night!

You are probably right Mr. Phan.

Quarry against the "very best" usually lasted about 7 rounds.

Yep, that is the only difference I would make to the original list.

No, you just underrate the hell out of him, to a ridiculous extent, idiotic even.

People like to say tyson is an underachiver, well he beat more ranked fighters than joe frazier, sonny liston and george foreman. Pretty good for an underachiever. Tyson is an atg with ease.
