Anytime you have a heavyweight that has fast hands and sizzle on their punches you'll see a ton of brutal ko's on the way up. It's not just a Tyson with those results. Morrison/Hide/Sanders/and even Jeremy Williams all have a ton of spectacular ko's when they fought the B/C/D grade heavweights. And that's also the reason why the slow plodder types with a history of being easy to hit or stopped is the name on the opponent list. They do their job well also--which is to make the puncher look terrific.
Agreed. Ruddock came to fight yet no one brings that up. He landing big punches on Mike but both fought two memorable wars. Both fights took a lot out of both. Tyson was a monster but I'm more impressed with his performance over Berbick and Thomas over Ribalta though Ribalta was sturdy.
I think there were actually quite a few who were not afraid and came to fight, Mike was just at a different level... Berbick came to fight as well as Tucker and Thomas, Tubbs and Carl Williams there are more but you get my point... Mike was just able to beat them so convincingly that people today just assume his opponents were either 1 shot to **** or just bums who never had much talent...
I agree with that. Not that they were that bad, it's just that Tyson was that good. Of course he fought some bums but so does every fighter and Tucker, Thomas, Biggs, Berbick, etc. were no bums. They were good fighters and haters who discredit Tyson's wins over them (roosterC lol)does more discredit to them than it does Tyson.
:good Tucker was a big strong polished boxer who Michael Spinks avoided plus owned a tko win over an in shape Douglas.. Tucker was no world beater but he would be a formidable opponent for either Klitschko .. Thomas was used up but still a good fighter with a tough chin and alot of heart.. Berbick relied on being a bully and absolutely tried to rough up and bully Mike around the ring in the fight .. But Tyson wasn't having it and just beat Berbick into the canvas... And Berbick had a rock solid chin as well... Biggs was a Gold Medalist and an unbeaten contender who had a nice jab and also was polished after a solid amateur career.. Biggs would have given Holyfield or many others around this era a tough fight.. Mike again was just such a force here he just was relentless pressure, hard punches, fast hands, great head movement, really the total package for a brief time.. Growing up watching him I honestly thought he would never lose, he was that dominant.. And it is funny to me now how he is dismissed alot of the time.. And this is coming from a Tyson fan but more importantly an even BIGGER Holyfield fan..
I rate Mike about seventh on my all time list. Topped only by Ali Louis Holmes Foreman Frazier Liston. For a short time,in the late eighties,he was awesome.
Watching this i can't understand how some people pick Tyson to beat Ali when Ribalta is a basically a very poor man's version of Ali, the beatdown was ****ing savage tho...
YEAH - Ribalta getting BLOODY BRUTALLY BATTERED like a RAGDOLL for 10 Rounds does prove 1 thing - Tyson could NEVER stop Ali. Ribalta got up 3 times And said "**** YEAH!" when teh ref asked if he wanted to fight on! And NOBODY not called Lenny Lewis has a chance of winning a Decision VS Prime Ali, even with neutral judges. :bbb [yt]Byl9p3xxzO0[/yt] Foreman Hoooooooooooooooooooooooooook!:smoke
Wrong. Many tried and failed to stand up to him before. Evander only succeeded because Mike was shot to pieces with zero confidence.
I am not even v.sure Tyson is tough enough to beat a 1976 Ronny Lyle either m8!!:!: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-SzlHZH8A0M[/ame] What a BLOODY BEAST!! :admin Prime Lyle would make WAVES today! :deal Foreman Hoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooook!:rasta
