Tyson was a machine.

Some of you guys just don't listen. Let's rephrase it, since MMA is not a sport with a ton of history.

There are martial artists who are world class, and that has been around longer than Boxing. If a boxer and a world class Judo expert got in a fight, whomever applied their trade the best would come out on top. The boxer won't win simply because he is a boxer and it's superior to Judo. Same with world class wrestlers.

    You guys are all wrong.

Chuck Lidell would have smashed Tyson. Lidell would have lunged in and threw his lead hook to the body, crumbling Tyson to the ground for a first round KO.

O.k., maybe not. :D I was just thinking about the Lidell/Rampage fight I watched. Lidell was supposed to be some "super striker" (he IS a heavy puncher, though actually) going into this fight. He threw a lead-hook to the body, then keeps his hands down as he backs up with his chin exposed, then Rampage nails him with a right hand and drops him instantly for the win. It was pathetic and the worst display of striking I'd seen- especially for a guy who was supposedly one of the best strikers. He thought he was PBF or Ali or someone lunging in for a lead hook to the body.

I'd pick Tyson over Rampage. Heck, just give Tyson a couple weeks to learn to sprawl and do a little rolling around on the ground to get used to it, and I'm sure he'd blast Rampage into the next century.

If Tyson hit rampage with one punch it would be over, if rampage got Tyson to the ground it would be over, its really a 50/50 IMO. Whos the better athlete, Tyson by a mile.

    You're crazy.

You think kids that grew up like Mike didn't wrestle too? Even kids on my block which probably isn't half the block and doesn't have half the kids on it that Mike had to deal with **** eachother up with boxing and wrestling.

They box with their cousins all the time, wrestle and all that ****.

Mike is another breed of fighter, and Rampage just doesn't have the tools necessary to deal with him. And how is Rampage gonna submit a guy who's stronger, bigger, and 10X faster than him?

Rampage ain't **** compared to Tyson.

You absolutely cannot compare wrestling with your friends to an olympic caliber wrestler, just as you cannot compare the toughest guy in your neighborhood to a world class boxer.

I'm just saying that he has experience, and Rampage isn't rushing anyone.

If Tyson can avoid punches from the top heavyweights of his time, then how would he not see Rampage coming in who would look incredibly slow in comparison?

Tyson had great footwork too, he knew how to keep his distance, and as the above poster, "el torrente," said, I bet it wouldn't take long at all for Mike to develop a sprawl and roll around the ground, and that's if he doesn't know it already.

Rampage just isn't in Tyson's class.

Boxers dont do so hot in a straight crossover to MMA.

Rampage would likely pound Mike out.

He was good, but damn y'all overrate him? Machine? Far from it. A machine wouldnt have struggled with Tillis. Mike was a damn awesome boxer, one of the best ever, but invincible, he was not, and a grappler, he was not.

I think you are underestimating the skills of a world class MMA fighter, who don't look that slow in person when diving very skillfully for your legs. Too each his own I guess, but MMA fighters know what they are doing. If you don't believe me, find one, and start a fight.

BTW, Tyson had great punching power, but he did not have great strength. It is often mentioned that he was pushed around in clinches.

    *sigh*

Prime Tyson is only bigger than Rampage by about 10 or 15lbs. Rampage is taller and has more reach.
Of course he can submit Tyson.
Small fighters submit much larger and stronger fighters all the time.

Tyson would kill rampage. The fact that this is even being discussed shows the under appreciation for Tyson.

Look at the training videos of Tyson and try to tell me that you honestly think that any one of these MMA fighters could compete with him.

    And don't tell me Fedor.

Fedor is a lazy, fat piece of ****. He might have all the ability in the world, but he doesn't train worth a damn. You get Tyson in there, Tyson would smash that guy too.

The training video I have seen. And it's about boxing. It has no bearing on how Tyson would do against another style. Why do you feel so strongly that other styles of fighting are inferior. I assure you they are not.

    :rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl

Anyone who reads the MMA forum knows that I've been a critic of Fedor's choice of opponents but I still stand that Fedor is the most skilled and talented HW fighter ever. (Possibly most skilled fighter of any weight class)

He would stomp an ungodly mudhole in Mike. Mike wouldn't even get past the 1st minute of the 1st round against Fedor. :rofl

You Tyson fans are delusuional, what would Mike do?
