If memory serves me correctly Jose and Don used to drink from the same bottle of Scotch, so to speak.

It must be so demoralizing for these fighters, to know that they could play an absolute blinder, and still get a score card that did not reflect what had happened in the ring.

In this case Douglas brought his own judges, and they still tried to cheat him out of his victory!

And then Don King campaigned to have the decision overturned because of the long count.

A fix sets up a potential Holyfield fight for the future easier. Feel bad for Holy he had this upset then Tyson getting locked up now we gotta argue what would've happened had they fought 90-91 lol.

Wow, this thread was started before the advent of computers and e-communications. Boxing Day, 2007 - I remember it well. Great effort in scanning the originally handwritten, mailed in posts. The turnaround time for replies was excruciating. Funny? Okay, maybe not.

But always remember folks, Don King was no eviler (yep, reads bad but it's an actual word) than the worst promoters in history and he did a lot of great things for boxing otherwise.

Going into the 10th was about even as a cross-eyed giirls vision after a long night of reading at The Library.

I remember Douglas winning that fight pretty clearly too. Maybe I should watch it again.

Ah yes, the old punter’s eyes - one each way.

Aim for the void in the middle, between the two, as they say.

With the pervasion of electronic media today, it’s comforting to know that “bookish” gentlemen like ourselves can still find solace in good ol’ fashioned “libraries”.

Tyson “only” had to hear the final bell and he was winning that fight, by hook or by crook (pun intended). Nothing was going to be allowed to stop the mega fight between Tyson and Holyfield, nothing!

Other than the ridiculous scenario of Douglas winning by KO/TKO, but that could never happen, never….!
