    You must be kidding, because:

    1) There is enormous difference between 1990 and 2005 versions of Tyson

    2) Pre-Douglas version of Tyson fought a lot of big guys who weren't movers. Guys like James Smith or Frank Bruno were MUCH better than Danny Williams or Kevin McBride

You think Danny Williams and McBride could beat 1986 Tyson?

Cayton and Jacobs wouldn't have let Tyson anywhere near someone like McBride.
    Too big, too strong.

Too modern. How could an 'athlete' from the 90s keep up with the legendary Kevin McBride?

I’m just thinking the guys Tyson fought late in his career were pretty big and weren’t the slick boxers he fought in the 80’s. Danny Williams isn’t that big so throw him out. I’m just saying everyone in the 80’s tried to out point Tyson. Land some jabs, hold on, move. Honestly, I could see 80’s Tyson beating all the fighters I listed except Holyfield. Just be curious to see how that version would do against the much bigger & much heavier fighters from the 2000’s.

True, but his skills gradually diminished after he fired Rooney.

Good post. I keep saying to these guys that a 90s Foreman was stronger than a 70s Foreman.
In Tyson's case, you are right, he was also stronger, but his skillset diminished after he fired Rooney.

Interesting post. It does not sound like you are an ectomorph despite your username here!
I would amend that slighly-people are at their strongest at various ages, & many are strongest younger, even in College, because that is when they were training hard & playing sports. They may have given all that up or greatly reduced it before even their 30's.

But I think you mean the *potential* to be your strongest.
Yes I think you have the age correct.
While testosterone peaks more like by the early 20's-& only declines significantly starting in the 30's-it takes years to build maximum muscle, & even though you could lift very efficiently & reach nearly all your potential muscle mass within 5 years, there is a certain muscular efficiency that is hard to fully describe, "old man strength", so you might be at your strongest approaching 40.

However I do not think it possible that you recovered more quickly at that age. Unless you used PEDs then & not when younger, or more &/or more effective stacking. Although I am against the use of any of them...
Steroids distort this field, but those drugged up enough can build much more muscle, so the time helps them anyway...They also helps mimic the abilities of youth

Plus an iron chin and desire during 85-91....he took some murderous shots from the divisions big punchers ...bonecrusher waits the last 10 seconds to land a,hail mary right...look at the fire and fury with which Tyson fires back...bruno & ruddock fights same......that 19 inch neck was like a crash helmet
