Exactly. And I would be shocked if anyone here would use that stupid sparring match Mike pulled with RJJ as a barometer of his fighting skill now. He was there for the same reason, for the money. I think Evander made 5 million for that. Good for him, let's pray he doesn't lose all that money, too. I don't want other ex-champs "coming back" though. There's a limit, and I for one won't ever pay for a glorified sparring match or obvious mismatch....ever.
I was heart stricken when Holy took this fight and refused to watch it. The training videos told me all I needed to know. As righteously mentioned, there was never any need for a third Holy-Tyson fight. Mike got his ass kicked in the first two, no need for a rubber match. Mike never even came close to winning. Didn't even score a knockdown.
Yeah Tyson would have destroyed an arthritic and likely close to dementia addled Holyfield. Not impressive.
I hope this was a message to stop this old fighters boxing. We need to focus on the younger guys who are good now..
Correct, I blew by the age of 40 with little notice, I was still running 10K's without any drop off, when I hit 50 though I started getting nagging injuries, tendonitis, strained muscles and such and I noticed I wasn't as strong lifting heavy weights. Not a huge difference but noticeable. Now at 61? A huge gap from when I was 50, runs have turned into jogging if at all and strength is noticeably down. But as my Dad said, "if you think that's bad wait till you hit 80".
