Undoubtedly Tyson would smash him. He'd be too fast, too powerful, apply way too much pressure and Wilder's balance issues would see him pushed around the ring. But it is Tyson, he does that do the vast majority of big men who have stepped into the ring.

Wilder is what he is, talented, dangerous and flawed. But even his most ardent fans have never claimed he would be an ATG. There's been no "Wilder would beat Ali, Tyson, Lewis, Foreman" etc threads like we have seen with the Klitschko's.

But Wilder is fresh new blood and being an American heavyweight will bring in money and interest from the US market which has been missing from the heavyweight scene. Wilder's win last night was good for the heavyweight division.

Tyson should've fought Tua. One of the biggest disappointment of the late 90's.

You automatically think its about race. You know there are plenty of non-racist white people here.

    Here's a maxi-pad.

Mike Tyson beating Wilder is not a radical statement.

Prime Tyson KO's ALL current Heavyweights, that's how watered down the division is and has been for several years now.

You're comparing a great heavyweight to a very good heavyweight. A bit unfair. Yes heavyweight boxing does suck right now, but then it's sucked before and then new great fighters come. Eventually you will get another great heavyweight that will get everybody talking, but the question is will that heavyweight have another heavyweight that can test him? Larry Holmes was a great heavyweight in his era but had no one to test him & then Tyson came a long.

Tyson would have struggled against Wilders athleticism and size.

I think you kids are forgetting that even in early in Tyson's career he had flaws and struggled against some guys.

Mike KO'd plenty of very good HWs so this doesn't really prove anything.

The same Mike Tyson that went the distance with James Tillis?

Maybe you're not old enough to remember Mike Tyson, but the man had his struggles with rangy fighters who used their jab properly.

The one thing about an early Tyson was that if you had weakness in the chin department or mentality department, then he will find out about it in the ring. Wilder is very good, got a very good jab, but his durability would let him down. Tyson had flaws like everybody else but if Stiverne can walk in straight lines with his hands up and still close down the gap, then imagine what a faster and bobbing and weaving mike tyson would of done.

That faster and bobbing/weaving Tyson couldn't finish James Tillis. Wilder is larger, and better than Tillis, sorry. And Tyson clearly had issues in that fight with James. (This would later be exposed against Buster Douglas as well. Out of shape or not, Tyson has a problem with an educated jab.)

Tyson could have won the fight for sure, but pretending he'd just blast Wilder out of the ring is not being realistic.

Tyson fought Holyfield in 97, was banned for the bite. He then returned in 99 and beat Botha, Golota, Norris and Francis, only to be banned again for a year for marijuana.

Tua in the meantime was facing the likes of Gary Bell, Obed Sullivan, Shane Sutcliffe and Robert Daniels until getting schooled by Lewis in 2000 while Tyson was banned.

You could blame both guys, or neither of them. Tyson was on/off banned or absent throughout most of the 90s and Tua spent alot of the time fighting cans.
