Tysons best win

Dundee always hated Tyson, he was training berbick when Tyson beat him too and also picked Douglas to win the rematch

 

He moved but not much and got hit almost every round.
Aggressive Tucker with a healthy hand could at least hurt Tyson.
Tucker could not use his hand as often nor as hard as he could otherwise.
Tyson would not have been able to land full force on Tucker due to their height disparity, and that is the reason to why he did not elbow him.
Tyson could not floor an injured Tucker, how could he stop a fit one?

 

I'd go with the Berbick fight. It's just the way he went about it, a 20 year old lad!

 

Berbick was tough and durable and even a bit awkward. He was coming off a win over undefeated and Ring pound for pound entrant Thomas, and even in prior bouts was a difficult veteran who gave a prime Holmes trouble. And Tyson bulldozed him. A very good win for Tyson even though Berbick with Dundee in his corner fought a stupid fight.

 

The only thing that people remember about Dundee in that fight was him shouting between rounds "where's the sponge? Who's got the ****ing sponge??"

2. Michael Spinks (who ducked tony Tucker like the plague)
3. Larry Holmes (who was still good at that age)

 

Best opponent or best performance?

I would say Ruddock or Tucker was Tyson's best win.

Most impressive performance? Thomas

So Dundee hated Tyson just because he trained Berbick and picked Douglas to win the rematch?? I'm not surprised he picked Douglas to win the rematch seeing as though he knocked the stuffing out of Tyson.

 

Tyson does not have one win that really stands out from the others. Like with Joe Louis, there are three or so that you can make a case for. This is not necessarily a bad thing, it is often the case with a fighter with a deep resume at world level.

 

I can understand why the fight vs Spinks could be considered Tyson's best win for some posters, but for me something is amiss somehow...

I mean, OK Spinks was undefeated, Mike was the underdog. Sure, Mike fought great, going into "terminator mode", and that win is a huge part of his legacy.

But something is amiss: Mike had no opposition that night because Spinks was useless. Watch the fight, including the announcment, etc., Spink was intimidated by Mike even before crossing the first punches; he looks like a sacrifical lamb and stepped into the ring already a defeated man.

Thus, I understand why the win vs Spinks can be a nice star in Mike's resume, but for me it can't be considered Mike's best win because in order to have a truly great win you need a great opponent (or at the very least a decent one), and MIke that night didn't fought a real opponente. He fought a ghost.
