Was it just a coincidence that most of Mike's championship opponents achieved so little after they fought him ? Granted Bruno and Holmes had legs post Tyson, but Berbick, Bonecrusher, Thomas, Tucker,Biggs, Spinks,Williams,Tubbs all amounted to next to little post Tyson.
That could be looked at in different ways.
    Thoughts ?

Interesting contrast to Holmes...uh, how many of his challengers became champions?

Check out a book titled "The Long Round" by Dominic Calder-Smith. Lots of info there.

And he ruined most of em . Same as Dempsey did , same as Marciano and Louis . With the odd exception , most of the guys that these men faced , when they really were at the top of their game ,were never the same .in the case with Tyson ,look at excellent boxer's like Thomas , Tucker and Spinks . Thomas was done , Tucker went off from the sport for a while while Spinks could'nt face fighting ever again !

It remains Mike's biggest win...though the fact that Michael's biggest win came against a grandfather takes the sparkle out of the victory imo.

To this day I wish he'd stayed at light-heavy, which is where I loved him.
