Simple if you have a very good chin you finish tough fights.Tyson koed 5 times. Not much of a chin.

Three of his knockout losses came in his last four fights. Mike simply lost his fighting heart.

From the late 80s through the 90s in 50 fights Tyson demonstrated a great chin. The will to win simply wasn't there anymore, he wanted a paycheck.

He was staggering all over the place against Douglas and Evander. Lewis put him out. You guys want to say he had a very good chin but you want to excuse his inabiltiy to stand up in a tough fight. Frazier went 41 rounds against ALi taking much more punishment then Tyson ever took. I never see it mentioned on this board what a great chin Frazier had. If you can get koed 5 times and still be considered to have a vey good chin there should be a list of other grwta chinned fighters with 5 koes. I am not seeing it.

Tysons conditioning got him knocked out against douglas and holyfield. He just took to much punishment against lewis and was well past it.

He give up against williams and mcbride

Great chinned fighters take pummelings and finish the fight. Thats why they are considered to have great chins.

You have to take the context of the KO's, every time Tyson was KO'd he was either shot, softened up by an acclumination of heavy punches or mentally beaten (or any combination of the 3)

I dont think that more than a couple of the great great heavyweight champions could have taken the beatings that knocked out Tyson and finished the fights on their feet.

    Ali, Jeffries perhaps?

Beyond that they would all get stopped one way or another.

There are a number of components to durability of which chin is only one. I think that in Tysons case his durability is based primarily on his raw ability to take a punch.

Tyson didn't have the ability to bounce back from adversity. That has to do with determination and heart, not chin. The sheer power of the shots he's taken throughout his career and the punishment he's racked up either without going down or sustaining for a long time shows how good his chin is.

The loss to McBride was not a legitimate KO, or a KO at all. If you'd seen the fight instead of Boxrec hunting, you'd have known that. As it is, you're a clueless git and your knowledge of boxing is about as basic as that of my left ass cheek.

I can believe Arthur doesn't acknowledge that three of the kos he's talking about occurred in Tyson's last four fights. That is an indication that Tyson was in a state of rapid decline.

No different than how some other fighters who had great stamina lose it at the end of their career.

Arthur's dubious argument is a classic of example of looking at facts without context.

I never said anything about a list so you're asking the wrong guy. But Sweet Pea has constantly broke it down for you, you are questioning the guys chin which was good, now read Pea's and my posts and you can see that his chin was good but if you beat him up his ability to get back in the fight and bounce back from the knockdown is where he was lacking. You dont belong in this forum because you dont listen to reason or good argument and cant debate. Now go to sleep,

Is this guy just trolling? If he wanted to criticize Tysons mental strength or "heart" I'd agree with him but physically Tysons ability to absorb punishment is not in question IMHO.

So this clown is a boxrecing arsehole who is asking for this shiitty list? Well, if he wants to play that game, Bob Fitzimmons lost 8 times within the distance within about 70 fights. Now if he questions the greatness of Ftzimmons then i for one won't be entertaining the fool anymore.
Ezzard Charles was stopped more than 5 times and imo is not just great, but at the highest tier possible, Max Schmeling and Patterson can be called great for me also, and they would fit this list.

Now arther1045, you have been schooled in the noble and honourable way, yet you still come back for more, you have forced me to play dirty and beat you at your own game, never enjoyed it much, but i had to teach you this lesson. Goodbye
