To defend Tyson's chin every post has statments that are easily turned apart. You say every heavy would have been stopped. That is silly. Foreman did go the disatance with Holyfield taking juts as much punishment. Ali took a tom more punishment in the 3 fights with Frazier then Tyson ever took and it wasn't close. Norton took more against Ali and Holmes then Tyson ever took. Frazier took a ton more against Ali then Tyson ever took. This could go on all day.
Fukinhell, IT HAS CLEARLY BEEN EXPLAINED AND YOU REFUSE TO EVEN ACKNOWLEDGE THE POSTS IN WHICH IVE BEEN REFERRING TO FOR AGES.
I did watch the Ruddock fight and just rewacthed them. It was totally a one sided beating. To even hint that Tyson took a real beating in that fight is silly. Its a desperate attempt to come up with something. Ruddock held on and thats about it. You know you argument is in trouble with this is the best you got. I could name a ton of guys with so called weak chins who finsished tougher fights then that.
I have seen the posts and they are desperate excuses. You want to rate Tyson differently then anyone else. Ok looking for another list. Nobody can find any of these guys with very good chins who couldn't finsih 5 fights. Ok give me a name of a so called very good chinned fighter who never finished a fight without taking more punishment then Tyson took in his toughest fight. I am pretty sure I won't see any. I know Hearns took more against Leonard then Tyson ever dreamed of.
With Tyson a lot of it was a relative (for a world class boxer) lack of mental strength, its the big difference between Ali and Tyson IMHO. Tyson sometimes "accepted" defeat, Ali didn't.
That's just it now. This is the last time i post on this thread- Tyson had a good, very good even, but not great chin. The reason his chin was not great is because he could be gotten out of there. But his chin was good, he ate some big shots from big hitters in his time, and before he was absolutely shot to bits, took a beating, a bad pounding before the stoppage was incurred. His big weakness was mental strength and inability to turn the fight around once he had met the canvas and bounced back up. He found it hard to get back into fights when the going got really really bad. If you wanna get into the left hook Evander had him down with, then check the post i made where i mention Gavilan and Basilio. That really is that now.
And just to nail my colours to the mast, I'm no Tyson apologist. He had faults as a fighter, but a poor (or even mediocre) chin wasn't one of them.
Tysons chin was easily top ten of all time. Disputing the fact that he could take massive shots without even blinking isn't rational.
