I think style wise a prime Tucker would be competetive with the Klitchkos. Id also give Ruddock and Bonecrusher a punchers chance against Wlad. Tubbs was really good in his prime back then he only loss to good fghters like Witherspoon,Tyson. Tubbs would school all the ohter top heavyeights. WHat guys today do you think are so special?

Why do people keep making that assumption?
Mercer is still levels behind Iron Mike. Besides, Holmes didn't really train that hard for that Mike, and didn't have the movement or speed that he did in his prime.
I wish he sustained the dancing that he did for like 20 seconds. A prime Holmes would've done that for a while.

Klitschkos have the highest KO ratio, esp. Vitali. They would have dominated in any era.

Tyson's era was much better because i actually gave a **** about it. Who gives a **** about the talent when the best fights aren't being made. Now everyone, except the K bros, are a bunch of pussies

The mid to late 80s HW division was better. It was far from great but still had better talent than today.

The Klitschkos would have belts or be top contenders though in most or all HW eras. It's the rest of the division that sucks, not them. They're both huge, strong, and control the range well. Vitali does a lot of technically wrong things on defense but his size and anticipation help make up for it. He can take a shot, has good workrate, heavy enough hands, and makes little subtle moves with his feet that throws the rhythm of his opponents. Wlad has a great jab, right hand, power, and knows how to use his height/reach. It's one thing to be blessed with the right dimensions in height and reach, but you also have to know how to use it properly. Guys like Lewis and Wlad use them well.

Tucker was a good fighter, I could see him giving Wlad or Vitali problems for a few rounds. I think Ruddock and Bonecrusher would get destroyed by both brothers. Tubbs was decent, but I can't really seeing schooling anyone except for someone like Barrett.
Aside from the Klitschkos, I don't think anyone today is so special, but guys like Haye, Chagaev, Povetkin, Adamek, Chambers, Boytsov, and Solis are just as talented as the better fighters of the 80's, excluding Tyson and Holyfield.

I loved watching Tyson steamroll Spinks, but the guy is still a LHW, not many people gave Spinks a chance in that fight, it looked as though he shat himself multiple times during the ring walk.

Bruno performed just as well against Lewis as vitaly. Against a much better version of Lewis too.

Less charitable people could say vitally only fought 2 good fighters too - and lost both.

There's no doubt in my mind that era had a better level of contenders. How often did guys back then walk away from title shots when they were the top ranked fighter and 31 years old????

Not mention that this division is full of olympians. The problem the right fights aren't being made.
